Konza Technology City (KTC), Kenya<br />
Konza Technology City (KTC) is a state-led flagship project for the Kenyan national<br />
government’s ‘Vision 2030’ to transform Kenya into a newly industrializing, middle-income<br />
nation by fostering science, technology, <strong>and</strong> innovation. Konza Technology City, planned<br />
60 kilometers south <strong>of</strong> Nairobi, is to be a sustainable technology hub <strong>and</strong> a major economic<br />
driver for the nation, with a vibrant mix <strong>of</strong> businesses, workers, residents, <strong>and</strong> urban<br />
amenities. KTC will develop world-class infrastructure, <strong>and</strong> facilitate research, education<br />
<strong>and</strong> business through Information Technology Enabled Services (ITES). The master plan<br />
for KTC, done by <strong>New</strong> York based SHoP Architects, aims to promote sustainable urban<br />
design, with a walkable, dense center that encourages high-value development <strong>and</strong><br />
discourages sprawl. The central urban area will include integrated public transit, mixed<br />
