THE PRINCIPLES OF PROSPERITY IN THE KINGDOM OF GOD<br />

M.M.NINAN<br />

Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned.<br />

Forgive, and you will be forgiven.<br />

Give,<br />

and<br />

it will be given to you.<br />

A good measure, pressed down, shaken toge<strong>the</strong>r and runn<strong>in</strong>g over,<br />

will be poured <strong>in</strong>to your lap.<br />

For with <strong>the</strong> measure you use, it will be measured to you."<br />

We receive <strong>the</strong> same measure, <strong>of</strong> course , pressed down and<br />

multiplied. So if you give <strong>in</strong> thimbles, you receive back <strong>in</strong> thimbles. If<br />

you measure <strong>in</strong> sacks, you receive a hundredfold <strong>in</strong> sacks. There is a<br />

beautiful story illustrat<strong>in</strong>g this idea by <strong>the</strong> poet Laureate <strong>of</strong> India<br />

Rab<strong>in</strong>dranath Tagore <strong>in</strong> his collection <strong>of</strong> short stories, "The K<strong>in</strong>g and<br />

chariot and he stretched out his hand begg<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> beggar. The beggar<br />

was first perplexed. But <strong>the</strong> K<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong>sisted. F<strong>in</strong>ally <strong>the</strong> beggar took out<br />

his begg<strong>in</strong>g bowl and took out a p<strong>in</strong>ch <strong>of</strong> his little rice - three gra<strong>in</strong>s <strong>of</strong><br />

rice- and placed it <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> palms <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> K<strong>in</strong>g. The k<strong>in</strong>g withdrew his palm<br />

and he stretched it out once more and placed a p<strong>in</strong>ch <strong>of</strong> rice back <strong>in</strong>to<br />

<strong>the</strong> beggars bowl. Lo! There were three gra<strong>in</strong>s <strong>of</strong> rice <strong>in</strong> gold. And <strong>the</strong><br />

K<strong>in</strong>g went his way. The beggar looked at <strong>the</strong> three golden gra<strong>in</strong>s and<br />
