Opening night at Clay County Fair Speedway

The second full season of racing at
Clay County Fair Speedway gets
going next Friday, May 6, with
opening night races.
Partnered with the International
Motor Contest Association, the speedway
will host weekly classes including
IMCA Modifieds, Stock Cars, Sports
Mods, Hobby Stocks, Sports Compacts
and Miniakota Micro Sprints.
There are 17 racing dates scheduled
for the 2016 season along with a bevy
of special events sprinkled throughout
the summer.
“We’re really excited about our second
full year of racing here at the fairgrounds,”
said Jeremy Parsons, Clay
County Fair CEO/Manager. “Drivers
and fans made the first full season
a huge success, and we can’t wait to
get back to racing action on Friday
nights.”
Adult general admission for regular
season races will be $10 and youth
ages 12 and under are admitted free
of charge.
Pit passes for regular season races
are $25. Hot Laps will start at 7 p.m.
with racing to begin at approximately
7:30 p.m.
“We want to continue growing bigger
and better, so we’re excited to get
started with our opening night races
in this second year,” marketing and
sponsorship manager Andrea Wiesenmeyer
said.
Part of that growth is a new, shorter
track constructed this year inside the
regular one specially created for the
600cc Miniakota Micro Sprints.
There will also be multiple special
event races this summer in addition to
the weekly Friday night schedule.
One will be a Rally 4 Veterans night
on June 3 and another will be the
Hawkeye Dirt Tour IMCA Racing Iowa
Speedweek kick off on Aug. 8.
“Kicking off the Hawkeye Dirt Tour
Speedweek is an exciting addition for
the CCF Speedway,” said Parsons.
“We have a first class racing facility
here at the fairgrounds and adding
special events like the Hawkeye Dirt
Tour will only help to grow our racing
series in the future.”
Coming up soon on May 13 will
be Family Fun Night with a package
including two adult tickets, four sodas
and four hot dogs for just $20.
The July 1 race event will feature hot
dogs for just one dollar in celebration
of Independence Day and a race night
on July 22 will include a “Kids Candy
Toss.”
It all adds up to some wholesome
family fun at the race track in Spencer.
“Our facility is outstanding, we have
a nice variety of race classes with a
bit of everything for race fans and we
really try to make it family friendly
so everyone can have a great time,”

Speedway:
The reconstructed 3/8 mile clay
track on the Clay County Fairgrounds
in Spencer known as
the Clay County Fair Speedway
made its debut in 2007. The
track offers increased corner
banking to adjust for the higher
speeds of auto racing and a
state-of-the-art lighting system
to make the races more visible
for both drivers and fans.
