“you look for inspiration
Q – Can you tell us a bit about yourself and what you are currently working on?
A - I am currently in my first year of university studying computer science, and on the
side with a couple of friends starting a small clothing brand. This is something I’ve always
wanted to do and now the idea is becoming a reality.
Q – What were some of the details that stood out during the process?
A - Time. This is a key detail that you don’t really think about until everything is underway.
Designing can take a lot of time to create the many ideas that you have stored in your
mind and then you have to choose only a few.
Q – In your collection, what are 3 of your favourite pieces of work/art that you’ve produced? (i)
A - Me and my team have created more than 20 designs total, one I created just in one of
my creative moments and when I showed it to the others it turns out that that’s one of the
main designs that is going to be produced. The other one is the creation of the logo. And
lastly, I created a logotype of art for my friend’s sisters wedding which was then used on all
their invitations cards and centerpieces at the wedding.
anywhere and everywhere.”
Q – As an artist do you speak about older generations for inspiration? If so who gives you
inspiration for your work?
15 16
A - You look for inspiration anywhere and everywhere, sometimes you struggle to find it so
you look for inspiration where someone has already found it hoping to get your own take
on it. I don’t talk about anyone enough to specify but yes I have talked about older generations
to find some inspiration.
Q – What’s one art/trend you applaud and why? (i)
A - One trend or somewhat of a trend is the new tones that have been brought into today’s
fashion, I applaud this because it brings about a whole different dimension to an outfit
with such simple colours.
Q –in your collection, what are 3 of your favourite pieces of work/art that you’ve purchased
which was produced by someone else? (ii)
A - One piece of art that I have purchased was on one of my trips to Kenya where I got my
families names hand carved into wood surrounded by the animals known as the famous
5. The second piece is a poster that was only mad in a limited quantity that has the word
‘LOVE’ but instead of letters Guns are laid out to make the word, this poster has a deeper
meaning of love instead of war. And lastly, a piece of art that I am waiting to purchase from
an artist ‘FunnyTummyArt’.
Q – What’s one art/trend you don’t applaud and why? (ii)
A - Some brands are trying too bring back a very old style to mix with modern fashion,
which is all well and good but I feel like they are over doing it or mixing it too much and the
styles that are being produced aren’t really what you’d expect from brands.
Q – What’s the last great film / article you’ve seen or read?
A - The last great movie I watched that springs to mind is ‘The Last King Of Scotland’
which is briefly about the reign of Idi Amin in Uganda, which is wearing my father is from
and shows the hardships that people went through and then being kicked out of a country.
And it reminds me that bad things happen but you have to work hard and come out
stronger.
