About This Issue: In celebration of Good Smile Company’s Nendoroid 10th Anniversary, Phygure® assembled its very first special issue by compiling some of the best and talented Nendoroid photographers from across the globe! This special issue will be a 2 part series and both will be released simultaneously for everyone to enjoy. A total of 24 Nendoroid photographers from Asia, Europe, Australia, and United States participated in this project by showcasing their incredible Nendoroid photography skills. Gale XV is a figure photographer and<br />
collector from Toronto, Canada.<br />
He started figure collecting in 2008<br />
before moving to Toronto in 2010. His<br />
interest in the hobby came back in<br />
2012 starting from figma, doll customizing,<br />
gunpla, then with <strong>Nendoroid</strong>s<br />
and PVCs today. The figure photography<br />
started when he was customizing<br />
my gunplas, and came across photos<br />
of other anime figures with dioramas<br />
from the figure photography community<br />
around the world, which inspired<br />
him to give it a try.<br />
Eventually, he started doing photos<br />
through phone camera and went on full<br />
steam last April 2015. The works of the<br />
figure photographers worldwide continue<br />
to inspire him to keep the creativity<br />
going, and bring them to life. Learning<br />
from authors like C.S. Lewis, and<br />
G.K. Chesterton became an inspiration<br />
for the imagination.<br />

Also the things he learned from summer<br />
school last July about the arts<br />
helped a lot to create and develop<br />
themes until it became a personal project.<br />
Today, he still continues to learn<br />
from these writers and experiences to<br />
develop more ideas.<br />
His main purpose for these photos are,<br />
as one author put it, to “recapture the<br />
wonder” through the photos.<br />
It’s still in the process and he is looking<br />
forward for the fruits these projects will<br />
bear in the future.<br />
His favorite themes are fantasy, history,<br />
and slice of life. He also like to experimenton<br />
different stuff like applying<br />
Renaissance art techniques to figure<br />
photography.<br />
