Lubrication<br />
To help maintain a bearing’s antifriction characteristics, lubrication<br />
is needed to:<br />
• Minimize rolling resistance caused by deformation of the<br />
rolling elements and raceway under load by separating the<br />
mating surfaces.<br />
• Minimize sliding friction occurring between rolling<br />
elements, raceways and cage.<br />
• Transfer heat (with oil lubrication).<br />
• Protect from corrosion and, with grease lubrication,<br />
from contaminant ingress.<br />
