258 Section 6 - Interlude
The second incident also involved Dr Wilder-Smith. He was speaking at a
media conference during which he stated that the BBC presented the biggest
barrier of all broadcasting corporations to creationist topics. In the audience
were two high executives of the BBC who were annoyed that he should have
publicly denigrated the integrity of the BBC. They offered to make a
programme on the subject of evolution and creation which he promptly
accepted, but the programme was never transmitted - due to “technical
problems”!
This incident demonstrates very clearly that there are considerations far
above getting good audience ratings. Even the ability to increase revenue is
subordinate to not transmitting any views that will upset those who really
control the mass media behind the scenes. Too much proof that God exists
might start people asking awkward questions!
One of the barriers behind which evolutionists like Richard Dawkins and
others hide is that their critics cannot ask awkward questions of the books and
TV programmes that they make. If they lecture, rarely do they have questions
at the end for, should there be a knowledgeable creationist in the audience, the
weakness of their case would be exposed in public. Creationists, however,
often lecture and invite questions.
On one occasion, a well known Christian evangelical who is a scientist and
an author on theistic evolution attended a lecture I gave. During the question
time he had ample opportunity to ask any question he liked that would have
demolished my case, but nevertheless chose to remain silent. One might ask
why, as a fellow Christian, he never raised a single question or even discussed
points with me afterwards.
Editors of papers or book publishers might express some interest in a
creationist’s viewpoint, but nothing will appear in print. What are appearing
now in the secular press are books that are critical of evolution. What is still
barred are any positive facts that support creation as this would imply the
existence of a great Creator God.
Some criticism of evolution is now permitted, but the new views that are
receiving increasing publicity are those of the New Age Movement. The
whole earth is now considered to be one huge organism that it slowly
maturing, and we have the “Gaia hypothesis” in which “Mother Earth” is
considered as an organic whole. In this, we are considered to be approaching
the final “Omega Point” which is the end product in the false philosophy of
the Jesuit priest Teilhard de Chardin. This is examined more fully in Appendix
2. Developments in this direction can be expected over the years.
Meanwhile, all that creationists can do is to give as much publicity as they
can to the mass of evidence they have against evolution and for creation. The
Creation Science Movement (originally the Evolution Protest Movement,
founded in 1932) is the oldest creation organisation in the world and the
largest in Great Britain. Ably led by Dr. David Rosevear and his wife Joan, it
has the first permanent centre and exhibition of creation subjects in this
country at 17 The Hard, Portsmouth. Those who would like to know more of
the creationist cause are urged to join them by writing to the Creation Science
Movement, P.O. Box 888, Portsmouth PO6 2YD. Only by spreading this
“good news” as far as possible will people be able to hear the evidence that
they have been denied by the mass media for over one hundred years.
