Western Sydney HSC and Careers Expo 2016
As part of careers action plan Al Amanah College organised an excursion to the Western Sydney HSC and Careers expo
held on the 18 th to 21 st June 2016 at the Sydney Olympic park showgrounds. The excursion was aimed at providing opportunities
for our senior students in Year Twelve to explore careers and study options post HSC. The following business
and educational institutions were represented at the expo:
universities, TAFE colleges and training providers
employers and employment services
career counsellors and advisers
organisations with apprenticeship information and opportunities
providers of work and study skills programs
providers of HSC resources, lecture programs and information services
student support services
providers of tutoring services
providers of international exchange and gap year programs
In addition to the exhibitions there were numerous seminars organised by the Board of Studies. On Thursday and Friday,
students had the options to attend seminars on subjects including English, Maths, Biology, Business Studies, Personal
Development, Health and PE, History and Chemistry, plus presentations on subject selection for Year Ten students, information
on applying through UAC and the ATAR.
Year Twelve students had a comprehensive tour of the facilities and discussed career opportunities with the institutions of
their choices. Students also had the opportunities to attend seminars that were presented on the day. They had an invaluable
experience and gained immense insight into educational opportunities and career pathways. These will help them
map out their future career plans. The behaviour and attitude displayed by all our students was exemplary and we are all
very proud of our very dear students. They are great ambassadors of Al Amanah College.
