Jonathan Velasco là người chỉ huy dàn hợp<br />
xướng, bác sĩ và thẩm phán được yêu mến<br />
trên thế giới hiện nay. Ông đã theo học trường<br />
Âm nhạc – Đại học Philippin và trường Berliner<br />
Kirchenmusikshule ở Đức. Ông từng là<br />
thành viên và trợ lý nhạc trưởng của Đội hợp<br />
xướng Thanh niên thế giới và trong đợt biểu<br />
diễn mùa hè năm 1996, ông đã trở thành<br />
nhạc trưởng người Châu Á đầu tiên.<br />
Velasco thường chủ trì các bài giảng về hợp<br />
xướng và các hội thảo ở Philippin và trên<br />
toàn thế giới. Cùng với các đội hợp xướng<br />
của mình, ông đã dành giải nhất trong các<br />
cuộc thi hợp xướng ở Maribor (Slovenia),<br />
Cork (Ai-len), Marktoberdorf (Đức) và Tolosa<br />
(Tây Ban Nha). Ông cũng là thành viên ban<br />
giám khảo của các cuộc thi hợp xướng có uy<br />
tín ở Châu Âu và Châu Á. Hiện nay ông đang<br />
chỉ huy Đội ca sĩ thính phòng Ateneo.<br />
Valasco làm cố vấn cho Ban lãnh đạo Liên<br />
đoàn Âm nhạc hợp xướng Quốc tế và là đại<br />
diện của Philippin trong Hội đồng hợp xướng<br />
thế giới. Vào tháng 01 năm 2008, ông được<br />
chọn làm Chủ tịch đầu tiên của Hiệp hội các<br />
Đạo diễn hợp xướng Philippin vừa mới thành<br />
lập.<br />
Jonathan Velasco is a much sought after<br />
choral conductor, clinician and adjudicator<br />
in the world today. He studied at the University<br />
of the Philippines College of Music<br />
and at the Berliner Kirchenmusikschule in<br />
Germany. He was a member and assistant<br />
conductor of the World Youth Choir, and for<br />
the 1996 summer session became its first<br />
Asian conductor.<br />
Velasco regularly holds choral clinics and<br />
workshops in the Philippines and all over<br />
the world. Together with his choirs, he has<br />
won first prizes in choral competitions in<br />
Maribor (Slovenia), Cork (Ireland), Marktoberdorf<br />
(Germany), and Tolosa (Spain).<br />
He has also been a member of the jury in<br />
prestigious choral competitions in Europe<br />
and Asia. He currently conducts the Ateneo<br />
Chamber Singers.<br />
Velasco is an adviser to the board of the<br />
International Federation for Choral Music,<br />
and is the Philippine representative to the<br />
World Choir Council. In January of 2008, he<br />
was elected the first President of the newly<br />
formed Philippine Choral Directors Association.
