THE annual Rotary Seniors
Club 'Mad Hatter' event took
place last Wednesday at the
King Club. Despite the 'icy'
weather seniors turned out in
numbers to enjoy an evening
of fellowship. The Rotary Seniors
is the longest standing
Rotary initiative. It has been
on-going since 1950.... when
the club was started in King.
At last weeks event most of
the seniors did a remarkable
job in creating their own
beautiful hats using a host of
different colours and ideas to
create a 'unique' hat.
Each creation had its own
story behind it and the Seniors
all looked 'very fashionable.
''From mielies to daisies
their hats were beautiful,'
said Rotarian Mike Jansen
van Rensburg.
So much fun was had on the
evening, involving Bingo with
Ivor Penny, Mervin Spring
and Ray Palframan at hand,
followed by tea and cake.
According to Senior, Sophie
Jordaan:” I enjoyed making
my hat and we had lots of
fun... I was happy to be a
prize winner,'
Kingspark senior citizen Rita
Flugel was judged to have
the smallest hat and also
won a prize.
