the house of Jehovah v and the
house of the king; w and in everything
that had come into Solomon’s
heart to do regarding
the house of Jehovah and his
own house he proved success-
2CHRONICLES7:6-20 God appears to Solomon 584
Solo·mon went on offering the CHAP. 7 ful. 12 Jehovah now appeared a
sacrifice of twenty-two thousand
cattle and a hundred and twen-
to Solo·mon during the night
and said to him: “I have heard
your prayer, b and I have chosen c
this place for myself as a house
ty thousand sheep. a Thus the
king and all the people inaugurated
b the house of the true God.
6 And the priests c were standing
at their posts of duty, and the
Levites d with the instruments of
song e to Jehovah that David f the
king had made to thank Jehovah,
“for his loving-kindness
is to time indefinite,” when David
would render praise by their
hand; and the priests were loudly
sounding the trumpets g in front
of them, while all the Israelites
were standing.
7 Then Solo·mon sanctified h
the middle of the courtyard that
was before the house of Jehovah, becausethereherendered
up the burnt offerings i and the
fat pieces of the communion sacrifices,
for the copper altar j that
Solo·mon had made was itself
not able to contain the burnt
offering and the grain offering k
and the fat pieces. l 8 And Solo·mon
proceeded to hold the festival
m at that time for seven days,
and all Israel with him, n avery
great congregation o from the entering
in of Hamath p down to the
torrent valley of Egypt. q 9 But
on the eighth day they held a solemn
assembly, r because the inauguration
of the altar they had
held for seven days and the festival
for seven days. 10 And on
the twenty-third day of the seventh
month he sent the people
away to their homes, joyful s and
feeling good at heart over the
goodness t that Jehovah had performed
toward David and toward
Solo·mon and toward Israel his
people. u
