Tyre Balls are back
Tyre balls were first introduced way back in the early 2000’s,
prior to the invention of mousse’s and even the pneumatic
tyre… ok not really – but back then it was already a popular
anti-flat system. We have tested them on quads, and we are
in the process of rigging up a system for one of our dirtbikes.
What are Tire Balls? Tire Balls are individual, inflated air cells,
made of a urethane that are more puncture resistant than a
heavy duty tube, creating a type of run‐flat technology. Each
Tire Ball has a valve similar to a basketball and is inflated by a
standard needle. Basically you inflate each ball to the desired
pressure and you fill the tyre with them, and then pop the tyre
on to your rim… they tell us that up to 25 percent of the balls
can fail before you’ll feel any difference. The beauty of the
balls is that they last forever so when you change tyres you
simply re-fit them and replace any punctured balls.
Now heres a cool invention. No more
pinching tubes or marking the rims – and
you don’t need to use tyre irons to install a
new tyre and tube.
What a nifty gadget.
1. If you need to remove your tyre – that’s
through the conventional method, levers
and elbow grease – but to re-install, this
thing is great.
• Push the tyre onto the rim to get started,
place the tube into the tyre.
• Place the Tyron into the centre bearing
and literally crank the lever and rotate the
wheel, the tyre pops on without fuss or
the need for tyre irons.
Guys – this is a fascinating invention and
it works really well, one man – or lady
operation. check it out for yourself. Pop
it onto the bakkie when you are heading
out, it makes life too much easier.
