With the glut of 2017 models on their<br />

way, there is very little in the 2016<br />

ranges that have not been tested or<br />

featured in this here quality publication.<br />

One of our mates, Wayne Philips<br />

bought a 2016 YZ250X (Two Stroke) and<br />

threw some money at it…<br />

Three or four months ago we did an<br />

extensive test on this new model from the<br />

Yamaha stable – and we’ll quote from the<br />

story that we ran there – “One of the most<br />

unassuming bikes on the market”. After<br />

riding Waynes one, we’ll stand by what<br />

we said, this relative newcomer is a peach<br />

of a bike.<br />

Wayne is related to the BCR Arrow<br />

racing team, headed up by some<br />

experienced names like Mark Garland and<br />

Brian Capper. Garland was one of the first<br />

in the country to race the new YZ and he<br />

has spent quite a bit of time making the<br />

bike better suited to enduro.<br />

Wayne is forty-something and trying to<br />

keep up with his racing teenage son, so<br />

he was looking for a bike that is easy to<br />

ride – and in our opinion, he got it right!<br />

This YZ has gone under the knife. One<br />

of the things we mentioned in the first<br />

story we ran was the fact that it was prone<br />

to stalling, often at precisely the wrong<br />
