PASTORAL CARE
At Woodchurch Road Primary School we are aware that difficulties - social, personal and cultural,
encountered by our children can affect their individual development and progress. Our pastoral care
policy, when operating within the general atmosphere of mutual respect which we strive to engender,
aims to identify these difficulties and take steps to minimise them.
The policy operates in four main areas:-
a) Spiritual, moral, social and cultural development of the children.
b) Management of Behaviour
c) Parental involvement
d) Child Protection Issues
Our aim is to develop a sense of self discipline coupled with an awareness of the needs of others and we
try to ensure good relationships by a variety of strategies. We are aware, however, that there needs to be
some rules and as a result we have introduced a code of conduct devised by teachers and children. This
is displayed by every class and at various places around the school.
The school has a Behaviour Management Policy, please ask at reception if you would like to see a copy.
Our Code of Conduct was written and designed to encourage the children to care for the school and each
other so it is a safe, happy and welcoming place. We trust you will remind your child of the school
expectations and encourage him/her to keep our code. Your support of school discipline is vital to its
success. Our zones of behaviour clearly indicate those children who are behaving well.
