ABOUT OUR SCHOOL Letter from the Governors Welcome to Woodchurch Road Primary School. We hope that you and your child will soon feel part of the school and its future. Education is a door to many opportunities and Woodchurch Road is constantly growing and changing to be in a position to offer children more options. We need your support and we need to work with you to make sure that your child makes the most of all the opportunities that are available. We look forward to a working relationship with you that brings out the full potential of your child in their academic work and, most importantly, in their personality. This prospectus is designed to give you as much information about the school as possible as your child starts school, but if you have any questions please ask. General Information Woodchurch Road caters for children ages 4—11 years. The school is a well-established urban school approximately one mile from Birkenhead. The School was built in 1903 and there have been many additions and changes made to the building and use of accommodation over the years. The school has 2 floors, the ground floor where the younger children (Foundation 2 and Key Stage1) are currently housed. The second floor accommodates the Key Stage 2 children. The school has two halls, which are used for P.E., Dramas, Music and Assemblies. Meals are cooked on our premises and served in both halls. We work very hard to make the inside of the building bright and cheerful. Our KS1 and Foundation area have recently been refurbished, and the F2 provision has been extended providing a lovely space for outdoor learning. All of our classrooms are fairly large. The school was built to accommodate 600 but we now have approximately 440 children on roll. We have pre-school located on site which is privately run by Ladybirds Pre-School. We provide wrap-around care with our Before and After School Club “ Little Buddies”, which is also open during school holidays, details can be provided on request.
