BUSINESS OVERVIEW<br />

As we predicted, in June we have<br />

reached our MP in Sales (100.4%)<br />

continuing to perform very positively<br />

in terms of profit (19.5%).<br />

This is a remarkable result in a<br />

month that we, as a country, also<br />

reached an outstanding conquest –<br />

EURO Champions.<br />

Coming back to Fernando Santos<br />

words he only admitted to return<br />

when the tournament was over<br />

means he had a strong believe that<br />

we would win it.<br />

We are heading to the same goal and we need to have the same<br />

strong believe to reach our vision. In this sense June was a very<br />

important milestone. Our major categories are reaching the MP<br />

and our new growth engine B2B is delivering its first PT2020<br />

Project.<br />

I would like also to congratulate the Marketing Teams for having<br />

been recognized by London Office for Global Mobile Best<br />

Practices. This teams recognition is everybody success.<br />

BRAND ACTIVITIES<br />

Samsung Bring Portuguese and Korean students<br />

together!<br />

Imagine two elementary schools separated by more than 10.000<br />

quilometers and eight time zones. One in Vidigueira, Portugal, and the<br />

other in Daeyanam, Gunsan, Korea.<br />

Last 16 th of June, <strong>SEP</strong> used Samsung technology to transform a big<br />

distance into a small detail.<br />

HQ Corporate Citizenship Team provided all details from Korea side,<br />

just before the sunset. <strong>SEP</strong> did the same in Portugal, just after sunrise.<br />

Portuguese and Korean students only had their Samsung Smart<br />

Classroom solution in common. Now they have much more.<br />

This exchange class between Portugal and Korea was the perfect<br />

opportunity to celebrate the 100% success rate achievement by all 140<br />

students within the Educational Project that brought together<br />

Samsung Portugal, Gulbenkian Foundation and the University of Évora.

The objective is to change the way students learn, improving their<br />

academic outcomes using Samsung technology and a different<br />

approach to learning.<br />

This result proves we need a new school now, not just somewhere in<br />

the future. The school as we know it has been too old for too long. It<br />

needs to be changed.<br />

And the change already started for Portuguese students from the<br />

schools of Ponte de Sor, Vendas Novas and Vidigueira, with a<br />

significant contribution from Samsung. See activation video here.

We are the CHAMPIONS, my friends!!<br />

Futebol Park Alameda allowed thousands of people to enjoy the<br />

thrills and emotions of 2016 UEFA Euro Cup!<br />

Up to 20.000 fans filled up this space and saw together Cristiano<br />

Ronaldo rising to a brutal header giving Portugal the lead in the<br />

semifinals against Wales.<br />

The last highlight was Eder amazing goal that sealed the victory,<br />

silenced the host country and made Futebol Park explode with a<br />

feeling that Portugal was seeking for so long.<br />

Finally we are the champions!

Before Portugal games Samsung promoted an activation that asked fans to<br />

guess the final score in a SUHD TV frame. The most creative pictures using<br />

#SUHDTV won an official jersey of our national team.<br />

In the VIP area the star was the SUHD TV that broadcasted the games in a<br />

more exclusive environment. This activation reinforced Samsung presence<br />

as a Football strategic partner and strengthened SUHD TV campaign.


BRAND ACTIVITIES<br />

Get in Gear!<br />

Samsung is changing the way it communicates and the Get in Gear event is<br />

a great example of what’s to come. Product presentations are mainly<br />

directed to Tech Media with product specifications as the focus.<br />

Get in Gear was completely different. This event was promoted by<br />

Samsung London and hosted by YH Lee, Executive Vice President for<br />

Wearables. It took place in Milan and Portugal hosted 4 key media<br />

publications: GQ, Men’s Health, ELLE and Activa.<br />

Divided in four different moments, the event introduced the new Gear Fit2<br />

and IconX and provided media with the opportunity to experiment and<br />

have fun with the Gear 360… A Gear Fit2 and an IconX were given to be<br />

used throughout the day.

Get in Gear!<br />

The first moment was called “Movement”. The speaker was Adrian Collins,<br />

Founder of Collins fitness, one of the most recognised fitness trainers in<br />

the industry. All media was challenged to wear gym outfits and to be<br />

ready to Get in Gear! Using three 5 minutes mini workouts, Adrian shown<br />

how it was possible to optimise our exercise performance using Gear Fit2<br />

and heart rate monitoring.<br />

To introduce Icon X journalists took part in a “Mind” session with Luke<br />

Bache, an internationally experienced yoga teacher and BBC consultant for<br />

the TV Show “The retreat with Nick Knowles”.<br />

Using Icon X, Luke demonstrated relaxation methods and meditation using<br />

sound. The right side hemisphere of our brain controls the left side of our<br />

body and Luke used Icon X to show how the body responds to music played<br />

in different sides of the body.

Get in Gear!<br />

The afternoon started with “Create” workshop. Oliver Kibblewithe from<br />

Rewind Agency was the host and made everyone experiment Gear 360.<br />

Rewind is a creative agency and a digital production studio, positioned as<br />

the leading global specialists in Virtual Reality.<br />

Working directly with the experts, all journalists went to the streets of<br />

Milan with a Galaxy S7 and a Gear 360. The goal was to challenge everyone<br />

to make 360º content and watch their own virtual reality movie using the<br />

Samsung Gear VR.<br />

In the end it was time to “Play”. All speakers were available for interviews<br />

and all products were available for experimentation. Journalists had the<br />

opportunity to engage with Samsung’s executives creating a good<br />

relationship with the brand. It was a new approach to product presentation<br />

that had great impact. Everyone left with a smile and ready for some more<br />

Samsung events!

Samsung Portugal implemented 2 Shop in Shops:<br />

This project idea is create and share premium content (brand<br />

consistency) on retailers websites and be a easy gateway for<br />

online sales . Samsung is planning more shop in shops in a near<br />

future.

PEOPLE<br />

IM & CE Team are involved in a 360º evaluation and development<br />

program which started with two offsite Teambuildings held at<br />

Marriot Praia del Rey Hotel. This is an ongoing program that aims to<br />

find team purpose in order to increase companionship, affiliation and<br />

increase engagement and commitment with company culture and<br />

goals.<br />

It consisted in two different moments in the morning “Jogos Sem<br />

Fronteiras” and in the afternoon classroom activities enhancing High<br />

Performance Teams characteristics.<br />

What are your main responsibilities?<br />

My main responsibility can be resumed in one sentence: provide<br />

the best operation support to Samsung customers on all matters<br />

related with financial aspects.<br />

Most of Portuguese companies lack strong capital structure and<br />

for this reason is my responsibility to provide the best possible<br />

credit conditions and provide an efficient support on all cashflow<br />

related matters, such as prompt payment of<br />

marketing/promotion incentives to our customers, to make<br />

possible the achievement of continuous sustainable growth of<br />

sales.<br />

What was your most positive moment in <strong>SEP</strong>?<br />

After 18 years in Samsung it is very difficult to point out the<br />

most positive moment.<br />

Working in Samsung is like riding a roller coast: we can see the<br />

up&downs and the crazy loops, maybe have expectations for the<br />

trip, but the joy of the ride and knowing that tomorrow there<br />

will be a different course to ride, are all special ingredients to<br />

have a lot of positive moments!

What <strong>SEP</strong> doesn't know about Choi is that he is extremely fun and<br />

he is passionate about golf.<br />

As a boss he is highly supportive, and he always believes in our<br />

capabilities to achieve our goals.<br />

He can be highly demanding, but besides what most people think,<br />

he has a huge sense of humor and he is always available to get<br />

together with his colleagues outside the office.

impossible not to like the way this TV improves SD images. We proved<br />

this using our newsroom TV Signal and got the best image quality<br />

ever.”
