Kline had two stints at Cal beginning with the first two
seasons of his collegiate career as a 2012 true freshman
and 2013 redshirt freshman before leaving the
program following the 2013 campaign. After one season at Butte College
in 2014 and another at Indiana State in 2015, he returned to Cal in the
spring of 2016 but announced in May after the conclusion of spring ball that
he would not be attending Cal as a graduate transfer for the 2016 season.
Kline was involved in battles for the starting quarterback job during both
of his stints along with eventual starter Jared Goff and Austin Hinder prior
to the 2013 season and as one of five quarterbacks on the roster during
2016 spring football. Kline was the team’s backup behind Goff in his lone
season of action at Cal as a redshirt freshman and played in six games off
the bench, completing 43-of-82 (52.4%) passes for 443 yards with three
touchdowns and four interceptions.
CAL CAREER (2012-13, '16)
Played in six games off the bench during his second of two seasons as
a redshirt freshman in 2013, completing 43-of-82 (52.4%) passes for
443 yards with three touchdowns and four interceptions for a 100.14
quarterback rating while rushing 13 times for 14 yards
Left the program following the 2013 season and played one season at
Butte College (2014) and another at Indiana State (2015)
Returned to Cal in the spring of 2016 and had a strong spring game
by completing 15-of-16 passes for 202 yards with two touchdowns on
passes of 39 and 32 yards to Melquise Stovall
Announced in May of 2016 that he would not attend Cal as a graduate
transfer for the 2016 season
Wore No. 8 in his first stint at Cal and No. 17 in his second

Kragen signed with the Denver Broncos as an undrafted
free agent after capping his collegiate career with
a huge 2015 senior season when he started all 13
games and led Cal with career highs in tackles for loss and yards (8.0, -43),
sacks and yards (7.0, -36), and quarterback hurries (6) while sharing the
team lead with his first two career forced fumbles and one fumble recovery.
Kragen earned third-team All-Pac-12 honors from Phil Steele as a senior
and was an honorable mention choice of the league’s coaches. He finished
his career with totals of 101 tackles, 13.0 tackles for loss (-62 yards) and
10.0 sacks (-51 yards) over 25 games played and 18 starts during his 2013
junior and 2015 senior seasons, missing the 2014 campaign in between
and redshirting with an illness.
AFTER CAL
Signed an undrafted free agent contract with the Denver Broncos following
the 2016 NFL Draft
Participated in Cal’s Pro Day and the San Francisco 49ers Pro Day in
2016
A standout in the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl with 2.5 sacks and 2.5
tackles for loss among three total tackles to help Team National to an
