Hawkins played in one game as a 2015 true freshman
in the season-opener against Grambling State
before missing the remainder of the campaign with
an injury and redshirting the campaign. Hawkins was a dual-threat player
in the defensive backfield since his arrival at Cal first at cornerback before
being moved to safety in the spring of 2016. He is listed in the No. 2 spot
at one safety position on the 2016 preseason depth chart. Hawkins racked
Southwest Division, first-team All-County, first-team All-Freeway League and
team MVP honors with career highs of 80 catches, 1,476 yards receiving and
16 touchdown catches. He was also ranked among the top overall players
