2015 after the Golden Bears’ top six receivers a year<br />

Hawkins played in one game as a 2015 true freshman<br />

in the season-opener against Grambling State<br />

before missing the remainder of the campaign with<br />

an injury and redshirting the campaign. Hawkins was a dual-threat player<br />

at both wide receiver and <strong>cornerback</strong> as a prep but has worked out only<br />

in the defensive backfield since his arrival at Cal first at <strong>cornerback</strong> before<br />

being moved to safety in the spring of 2016. He is listed in the No. 2 spot<br />

at one safety position on the 2016 preseason depth chart. Hawkins racked<br />

up career offensive totals of 152 catches for 2,443 yards receiving and 21<br />

touchdowns as a prep, while posting defensive numbers of 223 tackles, 2.0<br />

tackles for loss, 11 interceptions that he returned for 189 yards, one forced<br />

fumble, two fumble recoveries and 21 passes defended. Hawkins had a<br />

huge 2014 senior season when he earned first-team All-Southern Section<br />

Southwest Division, first-team All-County, first-team All-Freeway League and<br />

team MVP honors with career highs of 80 catches, 1,476 yards receiving and<br />

16 touchdown catches. He was also ranked among the top overall players<br />

in the nation by Rivals (No. 176) and Scout (No. 233), as well as among<br />

the country’s top 25 wide receivers by both (No. 21 Scout, No. 24 Rivals).<br />

prep during both his 2012 sophomore and 2013 junior seasons and was<br />
