Webb is a graduate transfer from Texas Tech in his first<br />
season at Cal as a senior in 2016 and one of three<br />
players along with Ross Bowers and Chase Forrest listed<br />
as the starter at quarterback on the 2016 preseason<br />
depth chart. Webb completed 459-of-747 passes (61.4%) for 5,557 yards<br />
with 46 touchdowns and 22 interceptions for a 138.4 passer efficiency rating<br />
in 23 games played and 14 starts over the last three seasons at Texas<br />
Tech from 2013-15. He ranks eighth among the school’s all-time leaders in<br />
passing touchdowns, 10th in passing yards and touchdowns responsible for<br />
(49), and 11th in passing completions, passing <strong>attempts</strong> and total offense<br />
(5,567). Webb began his collegiate career with a stellar true freshman season<br />
in 2013 when he helped lead Texas Tech to an 8-5 overall record including<br />
an upset victory over No. 14 Arizona State in the National University Holiday<br />
Bowl. Webb played in 10 games with six starts and threw for 2,718 yards<br />
on 226-of-361 passing (62.6%) with 20 touchdowns and nine interceptions<br />
for a 139.1 passer efficiency rating. Webb also set seven Big 12 freshman<br />
records and four school marks for rookies. Webb was an honorable mention<br />
Freshman All-American selection of College Football News and won a host<br />
of other honors in his 2013 rookie campaign that he capped by earning<br />
National University Holiday Bowl Offensive Most Valuable Player recognition<br />
after completing 28-of-41 passes for 403 yards with four touchdowns and no<br />
interceptions in a 37-23 win over the Sun Devils. Webb threw for over 400<br />
yards on four occasions and over 300 yards six times to set freshman school<br />
marks in both categories, including a Big 12 and school freshman record<br />
462 yards at West Virginia. Webb started his 2014 sophomore campaign on<br />
preseason watch lists for the Maxwell Award, the Davey O’Brien Award and<br />
Manning Award. He would finish the season completing 211-of-345 passes<br />
(61.2%) for 2,539 yards with 24 touchdowns and 13 interceptions for a<br />
138.4 passer efficiency mark. His 317.4 passing yards per game led the Big<br />
12 and ranked sixth nationally while his 24 scoring throws were third in the<br />
conference and 20th in the country. He was also second in the league with<br />
an average of 319.4 yards of total offense per contest. Webb was limited to<br />
five games off the bench as a 2015 junior, completing 22-of-41 passes for<br />
300 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions for a 131.22 passer<br />
efficiency rating. Webb graduated from Texas Tech with a bachelor’s degree<br />
in exercise and sports science in May of 2016.<br />

his starts after moving into a starting spot at defensive end shortly after a<br />
season-ending injury to Brennan Scarlett. He produced a solid season with<br />
17 tackles to go along with 1.0 tackle for loss (-4 yards) and three quarterback<br />

2014 true freshman at Tennessee before transferring to Cal and highlighted<br />
his campaign when he made his longest career catch for a 49-yard reception<br />
in a TaxSlayer Bowl victory over Iowa. He put up huge career prep numbers,<br />
combining for 3,999 all-purpose yards (1,423 receiving, 1,207 kick return,<br />
848 rushing, 521 punt return) and 35 touchdowns with 12 rushing, 12<br />
