PREFACE<br />

This is the story of a Father’s love that has left an indelible impact on the life and vision. I am<br />

talking about my father - Madathilparampil Mammen Mammen. He was a banker who left his<br />

banking because he could not be heartless in retrieving loan money from his loaners. He<br />

went into printing and publishing business and was involved in the freedom struggle of Indian<br />

Independence movement. During the period Salt Sathyagraha of Mahatma Gandhi, he<br />

joined the movement and taken the oath of vegetarianism and wearing of hand-spun khadi<br />

dresses. Early in the agricultural trade union movement he was a strong supporter for them.<br />

He was the Sunday school headmaster and representative and the trustee to the central<br />

Marthoma Church until as a reformer he had to leave the church to form the St.Thomas<br />

Evangelical Church of India.<br />

Our printing press was the second press in south India after the Church Mission Society’s<br />

press in Kottayam. Ours was the first daily newspaper in Malayalam. In those days lead<br />

based types were used to set the printing matter. After some time the lead being a soft will<br />

lose its sharpness. These were of low melting point that it will melt with a candle flame. As<br />

a young boy of 10 we played with it a lot. One day I wanted to melt the lead types and form a<br />

small craft design. I put them on a table spoon and began to heat it. Dad told me not to do<br />

it. But I still did it when having formed a blob the metal fluid fell over on to my thigh. It was


urning into my flesh when my Dad came running to me and bruised it off my legs with his<br />

hands. I had a deep wound which took over a month to heal and Dad had all his right hand<br />

fingers burnt and took over a week to get healed.<br />

I still have the marks of the burn and often look at them.<br />

The verse that immediately comes to mind is:<br />

Jews took <strong>Go</strong>d as their tribal <strong>Go</strong>d, a warrior king, jealous king killing all their enemies. In the<br />

process of progressive revelation,the ultimate revelation of <strong>Go</strong>d came through Jesus and it<br />

was the revelation of <strong>Go</strong>d as Father.<br />

I was surprised that none of the early fathers presented <strong>Go</strong>d the Father as he expressed His<br />

love to the belligerent children Adam and Eve. Instead they saw an angry <strong>Go</strong>d order them out<br />

of his Kingdom and ordering their execution. It will therefore come as a new surprise to many<br />

especially with the popular presentation of <strong>Go</strong>d as a King in the European Feudal system of<br />

the post middle age period. <strong>Go</strong>d’s love is expressed in driving his children out of the Garden<br />

of Eden and giving the blessing of Death to reduce the period of hell mankind will produce by<br />

their own choice. Death is the greatest blessing of <strong>Go</strong>d the Father to his children, over riding<br />

the eternal hell they brought themselves by their free choice. One day He will wake his<br />

children up and bring them home. Knowing the power of <strong>Love</strong> and the character of <strong>Go</strong>d our<br />

Father, he will bring not only all his children, even the creation will be liberated from its<br />

bondage to the glorious liberty of the Sons of <strong>Go</strong>d. He will indeed make all things new, and<br />

we will have a new day again.<br />

It may be new; but that is the clear message of the Genesis story. <strong>Go</strong>d is our Father and<br />

<strong>Go</strong>d is <strong>Love</strong> and what else can we expect? Ina world filled with distorted self based message<br />

of salvation and election this is a new proposal. He who has ears, let them hear. His <strong>Love</strong><br />

endures forever.<br />

I<br />

WHAT IS THE CHARACTER OF GOD?.<br />

The character of <strong>Go</strong>d remained the same throughout the period of creation and goes on<br />

to ages after ages without end.<br />

Malachi 3:6 - For I the LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.<br />

Hebrews 13:8 - Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.<br />

James 1:17 - Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the<br />

Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.<br />

Revelation 1:8 - I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is,<br />

and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.<br />

They were revealed through the ages in context as was needed for the growth and perfecting<br />

of man . It has been a progressive revelation.<br />

(Heb 1:1-2) <strong>Go</strong>d, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the<br />

fathers by the prophets, Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath<br />

appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds.<br />

These revelations and teachings were transmitted mostly orally through teachings of the early<br />

saints and fathers. Later when the art of writing came into existence some of them were<br />

written down. These teaching tells us the character of <strong>Go</strong>d.<br />

II<br />

GOD IS LOVE<br />

In the New Testament documents we have the best definition;<br />

"<strong>Go</strong>d is <strong>Love</strong>"This is actually<br />

the only definition of <strong>Go</strong>d in terms of who <strong>Go</strong>d is and His Character in relation to Man and<br />

within the Trinity. It does not say “<strong>Go</strong>d loves” but “<strong>Go</strong>d is <strong>Love</strong>”.<br />

have the definition of <strong>Love</strong>.<br />

In 1 Corinthians 13: 4-8 we<br />

We could obtain the detailed character of <strong>Go</strong>d by substituting<br />

“<strong>Go</strong>d” wherever we find “<strong>Love</strong>” in it. Here is what we get. This is <strong>Go</strong>d<br />

This is why the ultimate expression of <strong>Go</strong>d's love to man is found in the cross.<br />

All actions of <strong>Go</strong>d are to be understood in terms<br />

<strong>Love</strong> comes first and all others emerge out of this character, even judgment,<br />

punishment and death. OH even the hell.<br />

"<strong>Go</strong>d proved his love on the cross. When Christ hung, and bled, and died it was <strong>Go</strong>d saying to<br />

Here are the development of the Hebrew Script through history. The earliest script was in<br />

pictograph form. Hebrew is written from right to left. YHVH is the personal name of <strong>Go</strong>d as<br />

revealed to Moses. This is how it was written down.<br />

If <strong>Go</strong>d was before creation how could be define <strong>Go</strong>d as <strong>Love</strong>. <strong>Love</strong> implies more than one.<br />

This is why we define <strong>Go</strong>dhead as Trinity - Three persons who are bound together in love in<br />

all essence. Father, Son, and Spirit are distinct persons, capable of loving and communicating<br />

with one another<br />

Jn. 5:20 The Father loves the Son and shows Him all that He does.<br />

Jn.10:15 The Son knows the Father as the Father knows the Son.<br />

Jn.14:26 The Father will send the Holy Spirit in the Son's name.<br />

Jn.14:31 The Son loves the Father and does His commandments.<br />

Jn.15:26 The Son will send the Holy Spirit from the Father; the Holy Spirit proceeds from the<br />

Father; the Spirit will testify of the Son.<br />

We are expressly told of the love relationship between the Father and the Son.<br />

But what of the Spirit?<br />

Holy Spirit procedes from the Father and they are One.<br />

Holy Spirit in Hebrew is female<br />

gender and this oneness shows the ideal oneness of the man and wife. In fact the terminology<br />

Father, Son and the Holy Spirit seems to indicate Trinity as the basic family before the creation.<br />

Jesus’ prayer for the whole mankind was that all mankind be one family within the Trinity<br />

“<strong>That</strong> they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one<br />

in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. And the glory which thou gavest me I<br />

have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one: I in them, and thou in me that<br />

they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and<br />

hast loved them, as thou hast loved me” (Jn. 17:21-23).<br />

The whole creation is within the Trinity forming one big family with the Holy Spirit binding us all<br />

in One Unity.<br />

III<br />

GOD AS “ABBA”- FATHER<br />

"Father" is a metaphor used to describe <strong>Go</strong>d by nearly all ancient peoples. In fact most people<br />

worship their forefathers as part of <strong>Go</strong>d. The dead never leave or cease to exist. Instead<br />

they are the mediators between the living and <strong>Go</strong>d.<br />

In sharp contrast <strong>Go</strong>d is seldom referred to as Father in the Old Testament. But the concept is<br />

embedded in it very clearly<br />

Here are the few:<br />

"Is this the way you repay the LORD, O foolish and unwise people? Is he not your Father,<br />

your Creator, who made you and formed you?" (Deuteronomy 32:6, NIV)<br />

[The Father] guarded him as the apple of his eye.” (Deuteronomy 32:10)<br />

"Yet, O LORD, you are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter; we are all the work of<br />

your hand." (Isaiah 64:8, NIV)<br />

I will be his father, and he shall be my son: and I will not take my mercy away from him, as I<br />

took it from him that was before thee: (1Ch 17:13)<br />

He shall build an house for my name; and he shall be my son, and I will be his father; and I<br />

will establish the throne of his kingdom over Israel for ever. (1Ch 22:10)<br />

"He will call out to me, 'You are my Father, my <strong>Go</strong>d, the Rock my Savior.'" (Psalms 89:26)<br />

But you are our Father, though Abraham does not know us or Israel acknowledge us; you, O<br />

LORD, are our Father, our Redeemer from of old is your name." (Isaiah 63:16)<br />

"They will come with weeping; they will pray as I bring them back. I will lead them beside<br />

streams of water on a level path where they will not stumble, because I am Israel's father,<br />

and Ephraim is my firstborn son." (Jeremiah 31:9)<br />

"Have you not just called to me: 'My Father, my friend from my youth...." (Jeremiah 3:4)<br />

"I thought you would call me 'Father' and not turn away from following me." (Jeremiah 3:19b)<br />

Malachi 2:10 says, “Do we not all have one father? Has not one <strong>Go</strong>d created us?”<br />

"For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders.<br />

And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty <strong>Go</strong>d, Everlasting Father, Prince of<br />

Peace." (Isaiah 9:6)<br />

““A Father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is <strong>Go</strong>d in his holy dwelling.<br />

lonely in families, he leads forth the prisoners with singing.” (Psalm 68:5-6)<br />

At least some patriarchs knew <strong>Go</strong>d's love and protection as that of a Father.<br />

<strong>Go</strong>d sets the<br />

<strong>That</strong> was it.<br />

One of the functions of the Father is to discipline children to<br />

make them whole.<br />

Heb 12: 5-11 And have you forgotten the exhortation that addresses you as sons?<br />

“My son, do not regard lightly the discipline of the Lord,<br />

nor be weary when reproved by him.<br />

For the Lord disciplines the one he loves,<br />

and chastises every son whom he receives.”<br />

It is for discipline that you have to endure. <strong>Go</strong>d is treating you as sons. For what son is there<br />

whom his father does not discipline? If you are left without discipline, in which all have<br />

participated, then you are illegitimate children and not sons. Besides this, we have had earthly<br />

fathers who disciplined us and we respected them. Shall we not much more be subject to the<br />

Father of spirits and live? For they disciplined us for a short time as it seemed best to them,<br />

but he disciplines us for our good, that we may share his holiness. For the moment all<br />

discipline seems painful rather than pleasant, but later it yields the peaceful fruit of<br />

righteousness to those who have been trained by it.<br />

One of the things my Muslim brothers could not understand was that I called <strong>Go</strong>d "Father".<br />

Just like the Jews, they understood <strong>Go</strong>d only as a slave master who is angry. He might<br />

reward you if you do good, but will burn you if you don't do as He expect you to do the job.<br />

"Allah, most merciful and gracious" is a task master. <strong>That</strong> is exactly how the Jews saw <strong>Go</strong>d<br />

also.<br />

It was in this context that Jesus came with a revolutionary declaration of <strong>Go</strong>d as the Father of<br />

all Adamic Race. When Jesus taught his disciples he told them to address Him as "Our<br />

Father". In Aramaic it meant "Abba", "Daddy" as the babies addressed their fathers.<br />

<strong>That</strong> was the real character of <strong>Go</strong>d in relation to man.<br />

“Your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.”<br />

(Matthew 6:4)<br />

“Your Father knows what you need before you ask him.” (Matthew 6:8)<br />

“Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in<br />

barns, and yet your Heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much<br />

more valuable than they?” (Matthew 6:26)<br />

“If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to<br />

your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who<br />

ask him!” (Matthew 7:11)<br />

“Your Father in heaven is not willing that any one of these little ones should be<br />

lost.” (Matthew 18:14)<br />

“But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for<br />

him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him… But the father said to his<br />

servants, `Quick! Bring the best robe and put it on him. Put a ring on his finger and sandals<br />

on his feet. Bring the fattened calf and kill it. <strong>Let</strong>’s have a feast and celebrate. For this son<br />

of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’” (Luke 15:20b, 22-24)<br />

“Jesus answered, `I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except<br />

through me…. Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father.” (John 14:6,9)<br />

“And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor [or Comforter] to be with you<br />

forever – the Spirit of Truth.” (John 14:16)<br />

“The Father will give you whatever you ask in [Jesus’] name.” (John 15:16)<br />

“For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the<br />

Spirit of son-ship. And by him we cry, `Abba, Father.’” (Romans 8:15)<br />

“I will be a Father to you and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.” (2<br />

Corinthians 6:18 & 2 Samuel 7:14)<br />

“Praise be to the <strong>Go</strong>d and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the<br />

heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. For he chose us…. In love he<br />

predestined us to be adopted as his [children].” (Ephesians 1:3-5)<br />

“Through [Christ] we… have access to the Father by one Spirit.” (Ephesians 2:18)<br />

“[<strong>Go</strong>d is] the Father from whom all fatherhood derives its name.” (Ephesians 3:15)<br />

“Now to [the Father] who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine,<br />

according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ<br />

Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.” (Ephesians 3:20-21)<br />

The history of man and his future history<br />

lie on this relationship.<br />

<strong>Go</strong>d deals with humans as a Father deals with his sons.<br />

The talismanic word of the Alexandrian fathers, as of the New Testament, was FATHER.<br />

This word, as now, unlocked all mysteries, solved all problems, and explained all the enigmas<br />

of time and eternity.<br />

Holding <strong>Go</strong>d as Father, punishment was held to be remedial, and therefore restorative, and<br />

final recovery from sin universal. It was only when the Father was lost sight of in the judge and<br />

tyrant, under the baneful reign of Augustinianism, the Deity was hated, and that Catholics<br />

transferred to Mary, and later, Protestants gave to Jesus that supreme love that is due alone to<br />

the Universal Father. For centuries in Christendom after the Alexandrine form of Christianity<br />

had waned, the Fatherhood of <strong>Go</strong>d was a lost truth, and most of the worst errors of the<br />

modern creeds are due to that single fact, more than to all other causes.<br />

If <strong>Go</strong>d the Father was at least one tenth as good as my earthly father he would deal much<br />

better than the <strong>Go</strong>d who sends most of His children to burning hell for eternity because He<br />

considers himself Sovereign against whom they revolted.<br />

Matthew 7:9-12<br />

Or what man is there of you,<br />

whom<br />

If his son ask bread, will he give him a stone?<br />

Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent?<br />

If you, then, though you are evil,<br />

know how to give good gifts to your children,<br />

how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask<br />

him!<br />

So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you,<br />

for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.<br />

It really is true—<br />

<strong>Go</strong>d loves us. Jesus said it plainly:<br />

“For the Father Himself loves you”<br />

(John 16:27).<br />

• GOD'S LOVE IS GLOBAL;<br />

• GOD'S LOVE IS SACRIFICIAL;<br />

• GOD'S LOVE IS PERSONAL; AND<br />

• GOD'S LOVE IS ETERNAL.<br />

Karl Barth was a Swiss Reformed theologian who is often regarded as the greatest Protestant<br />

theologian of the twentieth century.<br />

Pope Pius XII called him the most important Christian theologian since St. Thomas Aquinas.<br />

“On the basis of the eternal will of <strong>Go</strong>d we have to think of every human being, even the<br />

oddest, most villainous or miserable, as one to whom Jesus Christ is Brother and <strong>Go</strong>d is<br />

“The doctrine of election is the sum of the gospel because of all words that can be said or<br />

heard it is the best:<br />

that <strong>Go</strong>d elects man;<br />

that <strong>Go</strong>d is for man too the one who loves in freedom.”<br />

GOD IS HOLY<br />

קָדַשׁ Qadash<br />

KJV Dictionary Definition: holiness<br />

HO'LINESS, n. from holy. The state of being holy; purity or integrity of moral<br />

character; freedom from sin; sanctity. Applied to the Supreme Being,<br />

holiness denotes perfect purity or integrity of moral character, one of his<br />

essential attributes.<br />

Who is like thee, glorious in holiness? Ex.15.<br />

1. Applied to human beings, holiness is purity of heart or dispositions; sanctified affections;<br />

piety; moral goodness, but not perfect.<br />

We see piety and holiness ridiculed as morose singularities.<br />

2. Sacredness; the state of any thing hallowed, or consecrated to <strong>Go</strong>d or to his worship;<br />

applied to churches or temples.<br />

3. <strong>That</strong> which is separated to the service of <strong>Go</strong>d.<br />

Israel was holiness unto the Lord. Jer.2.<br />

4. A title of the pope, and formerly of the Greek emperors.<br />

HO'LY, a.<br />

1. Properly, whole, entire or perfect, in a moral sense. Hence, pure in heart, temper or<br />

dispositions; free from sin and sinful affections. Applied to the Supreme Being, holy signifies<br />

perfectly pure, immaculate and complete in moral character; and man is more or less holy, as<br />

his heart is more or less sanctified, or purified from evil dispositions. We call a man holy,when<br />

his heart is conformed in some degree to the image of <strong>Go</strong>d, and his life is regulated by the<br />

divine precepts. Hence, holy is used as nearly synonymous with good, pious, godly.<br />

Be ye holy; for I am holy. 1 pet.1.<br />

2. Hallowed; consecrated or set apart to a sacred use, or to the service or worship of <strong>Go</strong>d; a<br />

sense frequent in Scripture; as the holy Sabbath; holy oil; holy vessels; a holy nation; the holy<br />

temple; a holy priesthood.<br />

3. Proceeding from pious principles,or directed to pious purposes; as holy zeal.<br />

4. Perfectly just and good; as the holy law of <strong>Go</strong>d.<br />

5. Sacred; as a holy witness.<br />

Holy of hollies, in Scripture, the innermost apartment of the Jewish tabernacle or temple,<br />

where the ark was kept,and where no person entered, except the high priest, once a year.<br />

Holy Ghost, or Holy Spirit, the Divine Spirit; the third person in the Trinity; the sanctifier of<br />

In 1 Chronicles 23:13 we read of Aaron being “set apart” or made unique in<br />

his capacity to offer sacrifices for the people of <strong>Go</strong>d. This quality of<br />

uncommonness or uniqueness can apply to people, objects, or time. The ground, for example,<br />

upon which Moses encountered the Almighty in the burning bush was holy ground (Ex. 3:1–6).<br />

The part of the tabernacle containing the ark of the covenant is the holiest place (Lev. 16:1–2),<br />

and the old covenant festivals represent holy time (23).<br />

All of these earthly examples are holy because they are set apart by the Lord who is the most<br />

“different” or “other” person in the universe. Scripture communicates this idea in speaking of<br />

<strong>Go</strong>d’s transcendence. Our Creator is high and exalted (Isa. 33:5), above all things and<br />

Qadash is being clean. <strong>Go</strong>d defines what is right and what is wrong, what is moral and<br />

what is not moral. In order to be clean <strong>Go</strong>d will have to move away from uncleanness<br />

or wash away the uncleanness. If a sinner comes into the presence of <strong>Go</strong>d what will<br />

be his reaction? What can <strong>Go</strong>d do. Is there a place where <strong>Go</strong>d is not present, where<br />

<strong>Go</strong>d can place the sinner? Since this cannot be, the only solution for <strong>Go</strong>d is to wash<br />

THE SOVEREIGNTY OF GOD<br />

To begin, we must go back to eternity past to when <strong>Go</strong>d alone existed.<br />

"In the beginning, <strong>Go</strong>d"(Gen. 1:1).<br />

This is an assumption all believers make.<br />

<strong>Go</strong>d has always existed and is self-existent .<br />

I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was,<br />

and which is to come, the Almighty. (Rev 1:8)<br />

Did <strong>Go</strong>d existed before the creation? Rev !:8 does not say that. It only says that as long as<br />

there was a beginning he was there. He will be there when there is an end.<br />

Existence itself gets the meaning only from <strong>Go</strong>d and in time. Time did not start until creation.<br />

In reality time is an entity derived by the mind to explain change or movement. If all<br />

movements and changes stop, then we will not have the time. Time is always measured in<br />

terms of changes. Periodic motions like pendulum, wheels etc are the means of measuring<br />

<strong>Go</strong>d knows all things past, present, and future. There is no limit to His knowledge, for <strong>Go</strong>d<br />

knows everything completely before it even happens (Romans 11:33).<br />

<strong>Go</strong>d can do all things and accomplish all things. <strong>Not</strong>hing is too difficult for Him, and He<br />

orchestrates and determines everything that is going to happen in your life, in my life, in<br />

America, and throughout the world. Whatever He wants to do in the universe, He does, for<br />

nothing is impossible with Him (Jeremiah 32:17).<br />

<strong>Go</strong>d is in control of all things and rules over all things. He has power and authority over<br />

nature, earthly kings, history, angels, and demons. Even Satan himself has to ask <strong>Go</strong>d’s<br />

permission before he can act (Psalm 103:19).<br />

<strong>That</strong>’s what being sovereign means. It means being the ultimate source of all power, authority,<br />

and everything that exists. Only <strong>Go</strong>d can make those claims; therefore, it’s <strong>Go</strong>d’s sovereignty<br />

that makes Him superior to all other gods and makes Him, and Him alone, worthy of worship.<br />

Just as peasants always bowed before their king for fear of offending the one who had the<br />

authority to take their life, <strong>Go</strong>d’s sovereignty compels us to bow before Him. But unlike corrupt<br />

We can look at it from the point of view of <strong>Go</strong>d. This is to start from the beginning. <strong>Go</strong>d<br />

alone exists and all creations are within <strong>Go</strong>d - where else could they exist. Which would<br />

mean that <strong>Go</strong>d includes within him the whole creation as part of him. <strong>Go</strong>d is a Spirit and<br />

Creation is <strong>Go</strong>d’s temple. The concept of <strong>Go</strong>d as Elohim came from this idea. YHVH is the<br />

personal <strong>Go</strong>d with whom the whole creation in unison exists. Has YHVH got sovereignty?<br />

Certainly. Just because the creation is part of YHVH, he loves all creation as himself. This<br />

gives greater meaning to the command of Jesus.<br />

We present ourselves to Him as a living sacrifice, loving one another, living a holy life pleasing<br />

to Him. This glorifies <strong>Go</strong>d and is our “reasonable service” (Romans 12:1). It pains <strong>Go</strong>d when<br />

this sacrificial life is lost. When we worship with an obedient heart and an open and repentant<br />

spirit, <strong>Go</strong>d is glorified, Christians are purified, the church is edified, and the lost are<br />

evangelized. <strong>Go</strong>d is glorified and in good health. These are all the elements of true worship.<br />

This then is the interpretation based on the faith that is monotheistic. <strong>Go</strong>d will not give his<br />

Sovereignty of <strong>Go</strong>d in practice was in existence on earth under the period of judges in the land<br />

of Canaan soon after he occupation of Canaan by the Jews. It was a rule of law with shared<br />

need not be in one person, it could be whole nation - the Elohim, including the King and the<br />

GOD IS SPIRIT<br />

In creation <strong>Go</strong>d breathed onto the physical body of Adam which <strong>Go</strong>d built and Man “became”<br />

a living soul.<br />

The representation seems to be two varieties of dimensions - the Material Physical realms and<br />

Spiritual realms each with its many dimensions. There are Physical bodies and there are<br />

Spiritual bodies. Matter exists in Physical dimensions alone with 11 dimensions of existence.<br />

Though they are made of wave functions and collapses into observable realities they are<br />

under physical laws which is the realm of the science of Physics and Chemistry.<br />

But it is the Spirit that gives life. Though we cannot observe them through our senses, they are<br />

as much a reality as matter. The laws in this realm are different. Biology deals with the life<br />

that is entrapped in the physical realm.<br />

John 6: 63 The Spirit gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words I have spoken to you are<br />

spirit and they are life.<br />

When the spirit joins the flesh we have life which gives the soul. It can probably be<br />

compared to a computer hardware which needs to be given electric power inorder to come to<br />

life. Without electricity the computer is just matter. What is stored in the computer hard disk<br />

can always be retrieved with proper procedures. To make it function the continued supply of<br />

power is necessary. In the same way the continued eternal supply of electricity is necessary<br />

for eternal life. Though some amount of electricity can be stored in a battery it is only for a<br />

limited time. The battery can be compared to the Spirit of <strong>Go</strong>d that man receives which gives<br />

him life. When that runs out man dies. The law of matter is that it goes from order to disorder.<br />

This is law of entropy from which there is no escape. The life giving Spirit functions as an<br />

intelligent agent which replaces order to higher order. It is this coexistence that gives<br />

continuity to life. On battery alone life cannot last beyond a given limit of time.<br />

It is this rebuilding that the Spirit does in the body of living organisms<br />

For every living being there is a physical material part and a spiritual immaterial part. The law<br />

of the material realm is increase in Entropy which is the measure of disorder. The law of<br />

spirit of life is to bring in order from disorder in the physical realm at its own expenditure. This<br />

is the expression of <strong>Love</strong>.<br />

<strong>Go</strong>d in relation to His character is what we had in the Exodus passage.<br />

<strong>Go</strong>d does not need your worship. Yet we need to worship him in order that our focus is on love<br />

and <strong>Go</strong>d, so that we may be in consonance and resonance with <strong>Go</strong>d, thus making the whole<br />

body and the mind and the spirit of <strong>Go</strong>d in health. Worship is the means of synchronizing<br />

with the spirit of <strong>Go</strong>d. <strong>Go</strong>d as a person do not and will not need it.<br />

CREATION AS AN ACT OF LOVE<br />

Creation of man was the greatest act of love<br />

The character of <strong>Go</strong>d in His relation to the creatures in His creation is found in the very act of<br />

creation.<br />

In the Jewish mystical thought known as Kabballah, the creation itself will require that <strong>Go</strong>d<br />

constrain himself - empty himself - for the existence. If the "Infinite" did not restrict itself, then<br />

nothing could exist—everything would be overwhelmed by <strong>Go</strong>d's totality. Thus existence<br />

requires <strong>Go</strong>d's transcendence. In order to create, <strong>Go</strong>d restrained himself to provide space for<br />

existence and freedom for the beings he created. <strong>Go</strong>d sacrificed his sovereignty, his space of<br />

Lordship and his freedom. This is the ultimate sacrifice of an infinite <strong>Go</strong>d.<br />

Freedom means possibilities.<br />

<strong>Go</strong>d knew the possibilities - possibilities of fall and possibilities of redemption. <strong>Go</strong>d knew the<br />

pain right then, yet in His love He generated His Sons and Daughters in His likeness with total<br />

freedom as He himself has.<br />

This is not new.<br />

Every father and mother as they grow into a family repeats this process. Eventually every<br />

parent knows that their sons and daughters will have to act on their own free will and grow into<br />

maturity. The process of growth we know is sometimes filled with pain.<br />

They may fall.<br />

<strong>That</strong> is why parents are there.<br />

If they fall into evil ways, the parents do not kill them.<br />

They lay their lives to redeem them.<br />

It is this love of <strong>Go</strong>d that is expressed in the Incarnation. This is why Jesus was called 'the<br />

lamb of <strong>Go</strong>d slain from the foundation of the world".<br />

Defining <strong>Love</strong>; <strong>Love</strong> is a universally understood concept, yet one that has no true definition.<br />

<strong>Love</strong> is a feeling that can be felt by all human beings, yet not a single one can come up with a<br />

solid definition. How then can we define love?<br />

<strong>Love</strong> is when two hearts interwine bringing crown of life to reality. Yet above it and above all<br />

is the cross that carries the imperfections and problems of the other even willing to die for<br />

one another.<br />

Tzimtzum - Kenosis<br />

This contraction or kenosis (in Greek) or emptying of himself is known as tzimtzum (in<br />

Hebrew). The word used here is "kenosis", and it is a self-renunciation - a transcendence of<br />

ego. At the same time nothing can exist without <strong>Go</strong>d requiring that <strong>Go</strong>d be simultaneously<br />

transcendent and immanent. On the one hand, he is absent from the space. On the other<br />

hand, <strong>Go</strong>d continuously maintains the existence of, and is thus not absent from, the created<br />

universe. The Divine life-force which brings all creatures into existence must constantly be<br />

emanate the emanated...He contracted (in Hebrew<br />

"tzimtzum") Himself in the point at the center, in the very center of His light. He restricted that<br />

light, distancing it to the sides surrounding the central point, so that there remained a void, a<br />

hollow empty space, away from the central point... After this tzimtzum... He drew down from<br />

the Or Ein Sof a single straight line [of light] from His light surrounding [the void] from above to<br />

below [into the void], and it chained down descending into that void.... In the space of that void<br />

He emanated, created, formed and made all the worlds."<br />

So <strong>Go</strong>d restricted himself from this worlds he created and thus do not want to know what is<br />

their will and actions and future. This will take away the predestination problem. <strong>Go</strong>d<br />

willingly gave up his prescience and gave an area of uncertainty and ability to choose within<br />

those realms. <strong>Go</strong>d has that freedom and he gave that freedom to man - so that man may be<br />

the image of <strong>Go</strong>d and hence in true sense Sons of <strong>Go</strong>d - "Adam, Son of <strong>Go</strong>d".<br />

The Bible reveals <strong>Go</strong>d has other sons besides Jesus (who alone is cosubstantial with <strong>Go</strong>d;<br />

His only begotten Son ), who are created by <strong>Go</strong>d in the various dimensions of Cosmos. They<br />

form the body of <strong>Go</strong>d.<br />

a. Angels - the sons of <strong>Go</strong>d (e.g., Job 38:7) including Fallen angels (Genesis 6:2), and<br />

even Satan (Job 1:6)<br />

b. Adam - the son of <strong>Go</strong>d (Luke 3:38) and through Adam all Mankind - Fallen and Unfallen<br />

Specially the Believers - "sons of <strong>Go</strong>d" (e.g., I John 3:2)<br />

Genesis 1:2 The earth was formless and void, and darkness was over the surface of the deep,<br />

and the Spirit of <strong>Go</strong>d was moving over the surface of the waters.<br />

The material world is subject to predetermined laws of Physics. Even there we see uncertainly<br />

principle that gives space for choice which are not predetermined. The written Law<br />

correspond to this type of administration while the Law of Spirit gives choice and more<br />

If Adam was pre-programmed and every action of Adam was pre-destined, Adam would never<br />

had the freedom as the son of <strong>Go</strong>d and was not an image of <strong>Go</strong>d. It is the image of <strong>Go</strong>d<br />

property that gave Adam the ability to fall. Did <strong>Go</strong>d fail? As a growing up process Adam fell.<br />

But the presence of the Father will be there to rectify and restore. Finally, we are told He will<br />

redeem and restore all creation to the perfection He wanted to be so that <strong>Go</strong>d will be "all in<br />

all," and the world will be restored to heavenly perfection....<strong>Go</strong>d will have his family with Him<br />

made in right standing..<br />

CREATION AS THE BODY OF GOD<br />

Since <strong>Go</strong>d created everything within himself they form the body of <strong>Go</strong>d. According to Judeo-<br />

Christian monotheistic pattern that includes material and spiritual worlds, including all<br />

dimensions and life forms in cosmos.. Where else could it be?<br />

The beings hence form part of<br />

the living cells within the body which has specific function to do and combine to form organs of<br />

the body of <strong>Go</strong>d.<br />

As long as the whole parts work synchronized with the whole <strong>Go</strong>dhead as<br />

one unit, the body is perfect and complete.<br />

Sin of sentient beings form the cancer within <strong>Go</strong>d's body.<br />

If some cells try to take over the function of other cells and some organs become cancerous<br />

the whole body suffers and <strong>Go</strong>d is in pain. Hence the redemption (healing) alone can bring<br />

back <strong>Go</strong>d and creation in consonance.<br />

Since there are no space outside of <strong>Go</strong>d, no surgical removal can be done.<br />

Total annihilation of these sinners could remove the material pain. But what about the<br />

memories of the past.<br />

Total redemption of everything is the only solution if <strong>Go</strong>d has to get out of His agony. In Him,<br />

we move and have our being. If just one tiny cell remain sick and evil, <strong>Go</strong>d will be in agony.<br />

Hence follows the extreme self giving, sacrificing <strong>Love</strong> of <strong>Go</strong>d and the total redemption of the<br />

whole creation so that <strong>Go</strong>d may be what He wants to be "in all and all in Him".<br />

We can think of this analogy also as an analogy of a family or a tribe or our planet of even<br />

beyond. In love we are one. We can never be complete and happy by surgical removal of a<br />

live part and throwing it out. They will always be part of us and will be an agony to eternity.<br />

Monotheism and Dualism<br />

In the above argument, we have started with the Person of <strong>Go</strong>d alone as the sole starting<br />

point who can create matter and all other entities potentially. There are systems of religion<br />

where they start with both Person and the Matter (Purusha and Prakriti) and the Person<br />

creates using the Matter and the Space outside of Him. Here since the Person of <strong>Go</strong>d is<br />

outside of the rest of the Universe, what happens in the Universe does not cause pain to the<br />

person. In this case the pain remains with the beings in the Universe alone. <strong>Go</strong>d can turn His<br />

back on Prakriti and go on with His future. However this dualism is not acceptable to<br />

Christian monotheism. As a result anything happens to the creation is happening within <strong>Go</strong>d<br />

Himself.<br />

The concept of <strong>Go</strong>d's essence in Eastern Orthodox theology is called (ousia) and is distinct<br />

from his energies (energeia in Greek, actus in Latin) or activities as actualised in the world.<br />

The ousia of <strong>Go</strong>d is <strong>Go</strong>d as <strong>Go</strong>d is.<br />

It is the energies of <strong>Go</strong>d that enable us to experience something of the Divine, at first through<br />

sensory perception and then later intuitively or noetically.<br />

The essence, being, nature and substance (ousia) of <strong>Go</strong>d is taught in Eastern Christianity as<br />

uncreated and incomprehensible. <strong>Go</strong>d's ousia is defined as "that which finds no existence or<br />

subsistence in another or any other thing".<br />

<strong>Go</strong>d's ousia is beyond all states of (nous) consciousness and unconsciousness, being and<br />

non-being (like being dead or anesthetized), beyond something and beyond nothing, beyond<br />

existence and non-existence.<br />

<strong>Go</strong>d's ousia has not in necessity or subsistence needing or having dependence on anything<br />

other than itself.<br />

<strong>Go</strong>d's ousia as uncreated is therefore incomprehensible to created beings such as human<br />

Therefore, <strong>Go</strong>d in essence is superior to all forms of ontology (metaphysics). The source,<br />

origin of <strong>Go</strong>d's ousia or incomprehensibility is the Father hypostasis of the Trinity, One <strong>Go</strong>d in<br />

One Father.<br />

<strong>Go</strong>d's ousia is uncreatedness, beyond existence, beyond non-existence, <strong>Go</strong>d's hyper-being is<br />

not something comprehensible to created beings. As St John Damascene states "all that we<br />

say positively of <strong>Go</strong>d manifests not his nature but the things about his nature."<br />

<strong>Go</strong>d's energies (energia) are "unbegotten" or "uncreated" just like the existences of <strong>Go</strong>d<br />

(Father, Son, Holy Spirit) both <strong>Go</strong>d's existences and energies are experience-able or<br />

comprehensible. A real distinction between the essence (ousia) and the energies (energeia) of<br />

<strong>Go</strong>d is a central principle of Eastern Orthodox theology.<br />

It is the energies of <strong>Go</strong>d that creates and form the substance of creation. The Word<br />

becoming the world. This is what makes the difference between, Son in the Trinity and Adam<br />

and other sons of <strong>Go</strong>d in the creation.<br />

In Hebrew, the word “Ruach” is feminine gender, assigning to the Spirit a feminine nature,<br />

character, gender, or characteristic.<br />

There is much Scripture to back up the Truth of the HOLY SPIRIT or RUACH HA KODESH in<br />

Hebrew, being female. Just as Adam was both Male and Female until <strong>Go</strong>d made Eve who<br />

proceded from Adam as a seperate Female part. So also <strong>Go</strong>d the Father contains within Him,<br />

the female aspect - the Holy Spirit which is clearly stated as proceding from the Father in the<br />

Nicene Creed as seen in the Eastern Churches:<br />

“We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord and giver of life, who proceeds from the<br />

Father, who with the Father and Son together is worshipped and glorified, who spoke<br />

by the prophets and apostles.”<br />

Western churches has the Latin word filioque ("and the Son") added after the declaration<br />

that the Holy Spirit ‘proceeds from the Father’. Filioque is a Latin word meaning "and the<br />

Son" which was added to the Nicene-Constantinopolitan Creed by the Church of Rome in the<br />

11th century, one of the major factors leading to the Great Schism between East and West.<br />

Others accepts the addition ” through the Son” which is acceptable to the East. Eastern<br />

Orthodox insist that to equate "through the Son" with "from the Son" is a departure from the<br />

true faith. The idea seems to be that the <strong>Go</strong>dhead is a family: Father, Spirit and the Son.<br />

Son being before all creation and Wisdom being with the Father in the creation process beside<br />

(Genesis) 2:23,24. Adam said concerning his wife, Havah (Eve), 2:23 This is now bone of my<br />

bones and flesh of my flesh, she shall be called woman, because she was taken out of man.<br />

(Genesis) 1:26,27 it states “And Elohim (Elohim is plural) said, let Us make humans in Our image<br />

according to Our likeness. And Elohim made them male and female.”<br />

The word “human” here will say “man” in your translation, but it comes from the Hebrew word “Adam”<br />

which means humankind or “mankind“, if you prefer the traditional term.<br />

The US is Male and Female<br />

This is why when <strong>Go</strong>d created Man in his own image we have the reiterated emphasis that the<br />

image is in Male and Female together. <strong>That</strong> is why marriages are supposed to form male and<br />

female as One. This is again implied in the marriage of Christ with the Church implying the<br />

transformation mankind into the likeness of the Son - the concept of Theosis. The living<br />

mankind will form part of the body of Christ. <strong>That</strong> indeed was the puspose of creation of<br />

In this concept of creation of life, the breath of life which is considered to be the Holy Spirit of<br />

<strong>Go</strong>d, gives life to the physical body. The soul can be compared to the computer. The body<br />

is similar to the hardware and the breath of life is similar to the power source. Every<br />

computer has a small power souce in the batteries that are in it. This gives life to the computer.<br />

When the power is off, or when the batteries run out, the computer is dead even though all the<br />

work is recorded and resides in the hardware. It will come to life when power isconnected.<br />

The batteries can be replaced or recharged to give additional periods of life.<br />

YHVH reveals Himself to Moses<br />

In the Old Testament YHVH's nature and character is described in the announcement of the<br />

Angels as the Lord passed before Moses when Moses asked to see the face of <strong>Go</strong>d. <strong>Go</strong>d<br />

does not show His face since no man can see His face and live. Instead Moses sees only<br />

the back of <strong>Go</strong>d - a part of <strong>Go</strong>d's nature. We do not know what Moses Saw. But what is<br />

presented is a Royal entry of YHVH and the declaration of who YHVH is as he enters the<br />

scene in the traditional Kingly fashion. It gives 13 attributes of <strong>Go</strong>d. This revelation came in<br />

Adonai Though the LORD created the universe "very good", He remained the<br />

Compassionate Source of life even after mankind sinned, and therefore the Name is<br />

repeated to refer to His loving relationship with alienated, fallen creation. I, the LORD,<br />

am also compassionate to one who has sinned and repented (i.e., the Creator gives us<br />

free will and the good gift of teshuvah). <strong>Go</strong>d created mankind for the sake of<br />

teshuvah - that is, our return to Him. <strong>Go</strong>d desires atonement with mankind even after<br />

sin and therefore continues to give existence to the world. "He makes his sun rise on<br />

the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust" (Matt. 5:45).<br />

Moreover, as the Savior and Redeemer of the world through Yeshua, the LORD reveals<br />

kindness even to the evil, and even partakes of its presence by means of His sacrificial<br />

love on the cross. Since teshuvah can only exist after the advent of sin, Yeshua is<br />

called the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world (Rev. 13:8; Eph. 1:4; 1 Pet. 1:20).<br />

The Zohar, the most important book of Cabala, states that an excess of Din is the source of<br />

ultimate evil. When there is too much of an emphasis in one’s life on Din (justice or control),<br />

evil (which is defined as “lack of balance”, “lack of wholeness”, or “unnatural separation”)<br />

arises. For this reason, the Cabala advises us that we should “lean” toward Chesed.<br />

that his children can grow into His likeness and be love.<br />

Though most of the Calvinists present <strong>Go</strong>d’s choice of people to be saved leave it to the whim<br />

and fancy of an angry god who insists on blood as payment of sin, at least some calvinists are<br />

forced to admit that this choice is based on his character. They may not specify love of <strong>Go</strong>d<br />

but it is implied by description. <strong>Go</strong>d has to kill somebody in home who is nice instead of you, if<br />

you want to come home.<br />

purpose which include bringing the entire universe under the headship of Jesus Christ. The<br />

goodness of <strong>Go</strong>d's pleasure, the fact that he has a plan from the very beginning, a plan to<br />

which he relates all his individual acts, is the very opposite of arbitrary decisions.<br />

The rest of Scripture abundantly testifies to this. Over and over again, Scripture speaks of<br />

<strong>Go</strong>d's reliability, his goodness, faithfulness. Does any person who displays these<br />

qualities make arbitrary decisions? Are these the qualities of a capricious person?<br />

Rather, if we go from the Scriptural witness to the character of <strong>Go</strong>d, then predestination<br />

is not arbitrary, but inseparable from <strong>Go</strong>d's goodness, knowledge, and wisdom. The<br />

1 John 4:10 - Herein is love, not that we loved <strong>Go</strong>d, but that he loved us, and sent his Son [to<br />

THIS IS THE KINGDOM OF GOD<br />

The Concept of Contraction (Tzimtzum) as Sacrificial <strong>Love</strong><br />

The concept of tzimtzum is the principle described in the contraction and repair theory of the<br />

"Arie" (Rabbi Isaac Luria).<br />

According to his school, the deity constricted His Infinitude to make room for the creation of<br />

man and the world.<br />

In doing so he empowered man charging him with the responsibility for<br />

his own destiny and even for influencing the divine construct. This is what we call Freedom.<br />

In this<br />

a two-way relations are created between the Creator and the created, both contract<br />

themselves and complement each other’s creations. This is what we call ‘LOVE”. This model<br />

serves as a basis for tzimtzum on the human level.<br />

This is defined by Jesus in his statement:<br />

John 15:13 (ASV) Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his<br />

friends.<br />

For every contraction (tzimtzum), another part expands.<br />

Tzimtzum makes room for others, thereby giving a person and others space to co-exist.<br />

The movement of tzimtzum is dynamic. Sometimes there is tzimtzum, and sometimes there<br />

is extension or expansion, and there is no one constant force that controls the other.<br />

The tzimtzum of an individual makes room for the other but is essentially different than selfeffacement<br />

as it is commonly understood. In the tzimtzum the individual does not vanish or<br />

become erased but continues to exist but with higher potency. Since the point has zero<br />

dimension, the potency will be (Potency)/0 which is the definition of infinite.<br />

Tzimtzum may be articulated on an inter-personal level, between parents and children,<br />

between spouses and between friends. It can be articulated in a family, a group, a tribe, a<br />

nation and even in the whole world of mankind. When it is expressed in the whole creation, it<br />

becomes the Kingdom of <strong>Go</strong>d, where <strong>Go</strong>d will be in all and all will be in <strong>Go</strong>d.<br />

This was clearly explained by Jesus:<br />

“Jesus called [the disciples] together and said,<br />

“You know that those who are regarded as rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them,<br />

and their high officials exercise authority over them.<br />

<strong>Not</strong> so with you.<br />

Instead,<br />

whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant,<br />

and whoever wants to be first must be slave of all.<br />

For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve,<br />

and to give his life as a ransom for many.” Mark 10:42-45<br />

Yes, the Gentiles use their power to overpower the people around them.<br />

They make sure everyone knows who the boss is. <strong>Not</strong> so with you.<br />

“Jesus knew that the Father had put all things under his power,<br />

and that he had come from <strong>Go</strong>d and was returning to <strong>Go</strong>d;<br />

so he got up from the meal, took off his outer clothing,<br />

and wrapped a towel around his waist.<br />

After that, he poured water into a basin and began to wash his disciples’ feet”. John 13:3-5<br />

In this upper room as Jesus prepares for the cross set before him, He becomes acutely aware<br />

of His authority.<br />

So what did Jesus do?<br />

He immediately humbled Himself and served!<br />

‘Do you understand what I have done for you?’ he asked them.<br />

‘You call me Teacher and Lord, and rightly so, for that is what I am.<br />

Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet,<br />

you also should wash one another’s feet.<br />

I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you.<br />

Very truly I tell you, no servant is greater than his master,<br />

nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him.<br />

Now that you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them.’ John 13:12-15<br />

Father <strong>Go</strong>d shows his Power by serving and magnifying Jesus because Father loves the Son.<br />

The statement can be extended to all <strong>Go</strong>d’s children. <strong>That</strong> includes Adam and the human<br />

race.<br />

<strong>Go</strong>d the Father gets his praise not because you praise Him, but because in His love he serves<br />

you.<br />

This is the praise of Jesus.<br />

In turn this is the praise of the Father.<br />

The dress of the Priests of Eastern Churches repesents the servants clothes ready to serve.<br />

This then is the principle of the Kingdom of <strong>Go</strong>d.<br />

This is what the Christian Churches failed to realize.<br />

Tzimtzum includes two main processes: contraction and expansion. The very process of<br />

constriction necessarily makes room for the expansion of some other element. Tzimtzum does<br />

not weaken but strengthens, and a connection (contact) is created between the constricting<br />

parties, which is stronger than the strength of either party.<br />

“I and Thou” as Opposed to “I or Thou”<br />

One may compare two types of inter-personal behavior-the “I and thou” pattern and the “I or<br />

thou” pattern. In the “I and thou” pattern, the individual and the other act in co-existence, and<br />

the “I” evacuates space for the “thou”; whereas in the “I or thou” pattern, there are hostile<br />

relations between the “I” and the “you,” and one will always be at the expense of the other. In<br />

this type of relation there is always competition, one attempting displace and destroy the other.<br />

This is today the Kingdom of This World. The significance of this principle will be evident<br />

later when we discuss the reason for this upside down world.<br />

Reparation (Tikkun)<br />

In Kabbalistic Hasidism the idea of tzimtzum is accompanied by the additional concept known<br />

as tikkun (repair). The contraction is only the beginning or preparation for creation. After<br />

<strong>Go</strong>d’s act of contraction for the sake of creating the world, a kind of cosmic explosion of light<br />

and sparks is described - the word went out and creation took place. In the process of creation,<br />

as the creative word went out into the empty space, the containers were not able to hold them<br />

and a shattering of vessels took place, which in Kabbalistic language is called “the shattering<br />

of the vessels,” in the wake of which the sparks of holiness became scattered in the upper and<br />

lower worlds and became encased in separate shells. This is the fall. Instead of being together<br />

they were scattered and thought themselves elevated creating an “I or You” world<br />

The Hebrew verb Tikkun is only found four times in the Scriptures (Ecclesiastes 1:15, 7:13,<br />

12:9, and Daniel 4:36). It means to make straight, establish, arrange, or repair. In Ecclesiastes<br />

7:13 the writer said, "Consider what <strong>Go</strong>d has done: Who can straighten [Takkan] what he has<br />

made crooked?"<br />

The concept that we have a moral duty to society originates in the Torah. In Deuteronomy<br />

16:20 <strong>Go</strong>d commanded Israel: "Follow justice and justice alone." The Hebrew prophet Amos<br />

condemned Israel's disregard of the widow, orphan and alien. He declared: "Seek good, and<br />

not evil, that you may live...Hate evil, and love good, and establish justice in the gate...let<br />

justice roll down like waters, and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream!" (Amos 5:14-15,<br />

24).<br />

Here is the mystery hidden. The scattering of the vessels resulted in a social mishap. It is<br />

not that there were no spark of <strong>Go</strong>d within the particles. They were separated without<br />

subjecting to one another, without loving one another and not dying for one another.<br />

This then is the fall. It is not an individual problem. It is a social problem. Apparently the<br />

growing church as it failed to see the “I and you” connection is still thinking of the problem as<br />

an individual transformation problem alone..<br />

You look into any presentation of the gospel,in today’s world, it is only directed at the personal<br />

level of transformation and faith in Christ so that they can escape the hell, totally ignoring the<br />

oneness aspect of the mankind.<br />

"Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from <strong>Go</strong>d. Everyone who loves has<br />

been born of <strong>Go</strong>d and knows <strong>Go</strong>d. Whoever does not love does not know <strong>Go</strong>d, because <strong>Go</strong>d<br />

is love. This is how <strong>Go</strong>d showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the<br />

world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved <strong>Go</strong>d, but that he loved us<br />

and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.<br />

Dear friends, since <strong>Go</strong>d so loved us, we also ought to love one another. 12 No one has ever<br />

seen <strong>Go</strong>d; but if we love one another, <strong>Go</strong>d lives in us and his love is made complete in us."<br />

Early Church as soon as Jesus left tried to build this commune of love. They were defeated<br />

by one couple who retained “We and You”. Apparently every time it was tried elsewhere they<br />

lasted only for a very little time, for the same reason.<br />

Since then the established church never even tried to rebuild the dream of Jesus. The<br />

communal meal became symbol and messages were for personal salvation and for them<br />

going to heaven.<br />

This is the communion today.<br />

“Please use recyclable cups” lest we contaminate<br />

A person’s job is to repair the fracture by an action called “raising the sparks”. Instead of<br />

leaving the sparks in a state of disconnection and separation, a person takes an active role in<br />

recreating worlds by tikkun, by repair- by connecting the scattered elements.<br />

SONS OF GOD<br />

The idea of a "son" in first century Christian writings was different than it is today. The term<br />

"son" simply signified that he came from <strong>Go</strong>d and bore His image.<br />

Both of these things are true of Adam:<br />

“And above the expanse that was over their heads, like the appearance of a sapphire stone,<br />

was the likeness of a throne, and on the likeness of the throne, was a likeness like the<br />

appearance of a man .…” Ezekiel 1:26,<br />

Did <strong>Go</strong>d look like a Man?<br />

Kadmon - is an ancient revelation as seen in Ezekiel.<br />

This concept of pre-incarnate <strong>Go</strong>d as The Primordial Adam - Adam<br />

In the beginning of all things, the first<br />

creation was a configuration of primordial light-energy with the "shape" of a human being. This<br />

configuration was the archetypal pattern for all that followed.?? The Primordial Adam is dual<br />

and androgenous - in terms of human biology, Primordial Adam is neither male nor female, but<br />

both. From this proceeded the Holy Spirit and begot the Son, forming “One <strong>Go</strong>d Trinity.” They<br />

remain in eternal union though exhibit independence. This is the ideal of the created Adamic<br />

Race also.<br />

Then <strong>Go</strong>d said, “<strong>Let</strong> Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness . . . " <strong>Go</strong>d created<br />

man in His own image, in the image of <strong>Go</strong>d He created him; male and female He created<br />

them. -Genesis 1:26-27 ..and so, Adam was the "son of <strong>Go</strong>d". From Adam proceeded Eve and<br />

all humanity was begotten by them.<br />

Sexual reproduction is not the only form of reproduction in <strong>Go</strong>d’s world.<br />

It is simple biology to understand that reproduction can be either sexual or asexual.<br />

Gregory Palamas of Thessaloniki (1296-1359)<br />

According to the Jewish Kaballah, creation took place in the contraction when the infinite Ein<br />

Sof Auhr emanated and expanded into the free vaccum and created beings. Thus the<br />

creation does not have the whole substance of <strong>Go</strong>d. A real distinction between the essence<br />

(ousia) and the energies (energeia) of <strong>Go</strong>d is a central principle of Eastern Orthodox Christian<br />

theology. Orthodox theologians generally regard this distinction as more than merely<br />

conceptual. This doctrine is most closely identified with Gregory Palamas of Thessaloniki,<br />

The ousia of <strong>Go</strong>d is <strong>Go</strong>d as <strong>Go</strong>d is the fullness of the Deity. The essence, being, nature and<br />

substance (ousia) is uncreated and incomprehensible. <strong>Go</strong>d's ousia is beyond all states of<br />

(nous) consciousness and unconsciousness, being and non-being, beyond something and<br />

nothing, beyond existence and non-existence. <strong>Go</strong>d's ousia has no necessity or subsistence<br />

that needs or is dependent on anything other than itself. As uncreated <strong>Go</strong>d's ousia is<br />

incomprehensible to any created being. <strong>Go</strong>d in essence is therefore superior to all forms of<br />

ontology (metaphysics). The source of <strong>Go</strong>d's ousia or incomprehensibleness is the Father<br />

hypostasis.<br />

<strong>Go</strong>d's energies are "unbegotten" or "uncreated," just like the existences of <strong>Go</strong>d (Father, Son,<br />

Holy Spirit), both <strong>Go</strong>d's existences and energies can be experienced or comprehended. In<br />

this dispensation, in which the <strong>Go</strong>dhead is manifested in the energies, the Father appears as<br />

the possessor of the attribute which is manifested, the Son as the manifestation of the Father,<br />

the Holy Spirit as She who manifests.These would include kataphatic or positive statements of<br />

<strong>Go</strong>d like the list of St Paul's energies of <strong>Go</strong>d. <strong>Go</strong>d being love, faith and hope and knowledge<br />

Jacob is <strong>Go</strong>d's son and firstborn: "Israel is my son, even my firstborn" Exodus 4:22.<br />

Solomon is <strong>Go</strong>d's son "He shall build an house for my name, and I will establish the throne of<br />

his kingdom for ever. I will be his father, and he shall be my son": 2 Samuel 7:13-14.<br />

Ephraim is <strong>Go</strong>d's firstborn: "for I am a father to Israel, and Ephraim is my firstborn" Jeremiah<br />

31:9<br />

(who is <strong>Go</strong>d's firstborn? Israel or Ephraim?).<br />

One of the grossly misunderstood and misinterpreted Bible portion is the Genesis 3 which is<br />

generally called the story of the fall of man.<br />

And the LORD <strong>Go</strong>d planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he<br />

had formed. And out of the ground made the Lord <strong>Go</strong>d (Jehovah Elohim) to grow every tree<br />

that is pleasant to the sight—literally, lovely to see; i.e. beautiful in form and color—and good<br />

for food.<br />

And out of the ground made the Lord <strong>Go</strong>d to grow<br />

every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food;<br />

the tree of life also in the midst of the garden,<br />

There are only two laws in the Kingdom of <strong>Go</strong>d:<br />

Mat 22: 37-40 Jesus declared, “‘<strong>Love</strong> the Lord your <strong>Go</strong>d with all your heart and with all your<br />

soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is<br />

like it: ‘<strong>Love</strong> your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets depend on these two<br />

commandments.”<br />

First commandment makes sure that every action is based on the <strong>Love</strong> of <strong>Go</strong>d which includes<br />

the whole creation in all dimensions. The second has a dialectics. You should love yourself<br />

to maintain yourself to do the work that is given to you.<br />

You should love your neighbor as<br />

youself so that he can do his work in dignity and love just like you. The moral error lies in<br />

loving oneself<br />

more than others creating an upside down world of hell.<br />

The Tree of Knowledge of <strong>Go</strong>od and Evil.<br />

The statements like “The knowledge of good and evil” is what is called a “merism.”<br />

merism is an expression of totality by the mention of polarity. You mention some opposites and<br />

it implies everything in between.<br />

<strong>Me</strong>rism is a figure of speech by which something is referred to by a conventional phrase that<br />

on selfish motives. The idea is that Man now have the potential of all knowledge than they can<br />

It is this that can eventually destroy mankind.<br />

Daath<br />

Daath could be called the Highest Point of Awareness for the Human soul as a Soul of itself,<br />

for beyond Daath we enter the level of the Supernals. The Soul, having reached this state of<br />

consciousness, can remain to assist the planetary Hierarchy or ascend and move from this<br />

Dimension. Daath could be called the sphere of Realization and Illumination. This is the Apple<br />

which was eaten by Adam and Eve.<br />

Crossing over this chasm of Knowledge will take man into the realms of Elohims. However<br />

there is a dialectics in the knowledge. The dialectics of <strong>Go</strong>od and Evil along with the freedom<br />

as an Elohim, man will take his place as the cocreator with <strong>Go</strong>d.<br />

He was known for The Fable of the Bees (1714), which was first published as a 433-line poem<br />

in 1705; by the sixth edition of 1729 it had become a treatise. Mandeville depicted a hive full of<br />

bees, each going about its business in its own way, and suggested that vice and fraud were as<br />

much a part of their success as industry and virtue. All of these, he said, are necessary for a<br />

market-based society to flourish; vice and greed are among the qualities of the egoistic<br />

individuals who make up such a society. Mandeville examined the way in which private vices,<br />

such as vanity, luxury, and the desire for material possessions and fashion, benefit the public<br />

by creating a market for commercial and industrial products. The book was remarkably witty<br />

and appealing, and it sparked considerable discussion among moralists and economists.<br />

Berkeley and Hutcheson spoke out against its sarcastic and cynical implications, but its ideas<br />

influenced Adam Smith and anticipated the doctrine of conspicuous consumption later<br />

promulgated by the American economist and sociologist, Thorsten Veblen.<br />

Bernard de Mandeville says:<br />

“The truth is brutally simple: a prosperous society, indeed, any large society at all, needs vice<br />

like a fish needs water. If we desire a society comfortable enough to be worth living in, we are<br />

far better investing in greed, envy, unscrupulous competition, manipulation, dishonesty, and<br />

lying than in probity, truthfulness, charity, and fairness. In the doggerel of the fable itself, “all<br />

Trades and Places knew some Cheat; No Calling was without Deceit”; so, “every Part was full<br />

of Vice, / Yet the whole Mass a Paradise.<br />

“On the other hand, an easy situation, on some abundant island in which men and women live<br />

honestly, may be peaceable, but it is also boring.<br />

“They shall have no Arts or Sciences...they must be poor, ignorant, and almost wholly destitute<br />

of what we call the Comforts of Life, and all the Cardinal Virtues together won’t so much as<br />

procure a tolerable Coat or a Porridge Pot among ’em."<br />

This indeed was the personal experience of the Animal world and their understanding of the<br />

world they lived in.<br />

The result of this was found in the rest of history of Adam and his family. The power that<br />

one gets with the knowledge can make them superior to others. What we notice in the<br />

immediate history of Adam family was, for some reason, the older Cain kills, the younger Abel.<br />

<strong>Love</strong> would require that a brother even die for the brother. This then was the fall. Instead of<br />

becoming Sons of <strong>Go</strong>d with love as the character, they began to dominate over others. Life<br />

became a struggle for existence and superiority. The Kingdom of <strong>Go</strong>d has been turned upside<br />

down and Life turned out to be a hell for mankind..<br />

Unlike the claim that the second they ate the fruit instead of they becoming separated from<br />

<strong>Go</strong>d, <strong>Go</strong>d comes after them, calling “Where are you?” They tried to hide themselves.<br />

He searches them and finds them. As soon as <strong>Go</strong>d found them out in their hiding place, they<br />

said they were naked and He took them home and covered them with fur coats.<br />

Genesis 3:21, "Unto Adam also and to his wife did the Lord <strong>Go</strong>d make coats of skins,<br />

and clothed them."<br />

They were His children, created in His own image. <strong>Go</strong>d is <strong>Love</strong>. He cannot act in any other<br />

way.<br />

Now <strong>Go</strong>d has to face the consequence of the immense knowledge of good and evil<br />

prematurely<br />

received by the children.<br />

And the council was held by the whole Elohim and <strong>Go</strong>d announced the problem to them, “Man<br />

has become like one of us knowing good and evil.” If they stayed within the Garden and if<br />

they ate of the Tree of Life also, they will be eternally living in hell since the tree of life<br />

provided immortality. The only way to assure that this will not happen was to drive them out of<br />

the Garden and make the Garden secured by guards. This was the decision of the Elohim.<br />

Was this decision based on an earlier experience of another being eating the tree of the good<br />

and evil and then ate also the tree of life and exists even today in hell? A life of pain and agony<br />

which never can end. Unless....? How will <strong>Go</strong>d solve that problem?<br />

Gen 2:22-23 Then the Lord <strong>Go</strong>d said, “Behold, the man has become like one of Us, knowing<br />

Adam and Eve and He cursed them. He then threw them out of the Paradise.<br />

But let us look at the Scripture to discern.<br />

The word “cursed” is only used in addressing the serpent, as the originator of the temptation,<br />

and<br />

in reference to “the ground” as the sphere of man’s penalty (Genesis 3:17).<br />

<strong>Go</strong>d does not pronounce a curse either upon the man or upon the woman.<br />

There is no direct indication as to the identity of Serpent with Devil which is usually assumed.<br />

This hostility represents the hostility between Satan and all mankind.<br />

would be the demons and the offspring of the woman is Christ, the <strong>Me</strong>ssiah.<br />

Serpent was presented as an intelligent animal which probably walked on legs. V 15 is often<br />

considered as the solution to the problem of evil through the offspring of Eve - Jesus - who will<br />

find a way out of the destruction caused by the evil advise.<br />

A team of paleontologists, led by Dr Dave Martill from the University of Portsmouth, UK, has<br />

found a unique four-legged specimen in the Crato Formation of Brazil. It lived during the Early<br />

Cretaceous, around 110 million years ago. The snake, named Tetrapodophis amplectus<br />

(meaning "four-footed snake" in Greek) by the team, is a juvenile and very small, measuring<br />

just 20cm from head to toe, although it may have grown much larger. The head is the size of<br />

an adult fingernail, and the smallest tail bone is only a quarter of a millimetre long.<br />

But the most remarkable thing about it is the presence of two sets of<br />

and a pair of feet.<br />

commanded you not to eat from?”<br />

Gen 3:12 The man said, “The woman whom you gave to be with me, she gave me fruit from<br />

the tree, and I ate it.”<br />

Gen 3:13 Yahweh <strong>Go</strong>d said to the woman, “What have you done?” The woman said, “The<br />

serpent deceived me, and I ate.”<br />

This was evidently an attempt to evade responsibility and blame somebody else for the crime.<br />

Thus it required that a creation of hierarchical responsibility was needed. <strong>Go</strong>d’s suggestion<br />

was Adam, Eve and then the rest of the animals. The prime impulse on which animals act<br />

was self preservation. It was only Adam and Eve who had the knowledge of <strong>Go</strong>od and Evil.<br />

So they were to take responsibility. Since Eve was the one who fell to the temptation of self<br />

preservation and improvement, she was made less responsible to the decision making. As<br />

for Adam, his choice was indeed made upon love. Adam knew the consequences of the<br />

disobedience, and he did not want Eve to go through it alone. So he knowingly and willingly<br />

took the choice. Hence Adam was made responsible for right choices.<br />

“I will put hostility between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring.<br />

He will bruise your head, and you will bruise his heel.”<br />

A beginning of a new birth, a totally new creation starts with the Seed of the Woman. It was,<br />

like the first Breath of Life. Eve was partaking of this process of redemption actively with the<br />

pain she bore in bringing children. In due time the creator himself was born the form of Man as<br />

second Adam to redeem all mankind.<br />

It is the statement of increase in entropy so that decay and eventual death will occur “in the<br />

What is the day?<br />

Usually people take the day as our usual 24 hours - 12 hour day and 12 hour night.<br />

Hence the decision was that Man should not be in this hell of the Kingdom of this World for<br />

less than a 1000 human years. They will all sleep until a solution is provided when father and<br />

mother will wake up the children to a new day and new age.<br />

The usual explanation for death and expulsion from Eden is based on the influence of Greco-<br />

Roman justice system. Sin must be punished. Justice of <strong>Go</strong>d predominate His <strong>Love</strong>.<br />

Such a relationship is representative of the Feudal Lord to his vassals and of the Master to<br />

their slaves. This is still the explanation of Islam which broke out from Christianity around<br />

reduced the hell period on earth to short period till they can rise up and be normal within the<br />

family as Sons of <strong>Go</strong>d.<br />

<strong>Go</strong>d’s inscrutable power is not exercised on a whim, but always as an expression of love for<br />

his people. His sovereignty is pro-us.”<br />

When Adam and Eve choose the self-based Kingdom of this World, he turned thee Kingdom<br />

gave rise to a society based on power and exploitation of one class by another. Two such<br />

forms exists in the world today - the Class system based on individual competition and Caste<br />

system based on heredity and family. Class system produced the Capitalism Slavey and<br />

Caste System produced the hierarchy as seen in India.<br />

As the population increases this struggle will intense creating the hell that is this world. <strong>Go</strong>d<br />

did not create a hell. Hell is what we produced because of the fall. It is this what <strong>Go</strong>d<br />

wanted to save his children. In order to reduce the hell time <strong>Go</strong>d, decreed the life time of<br />

and saw that it was corrupt, for all flesh had corrupted their way on the earth. <strong>Go</strong>d said to<br />

Noah, “I will bring an end to all flesh, for the earth is filled with violence through them. Behold,<br />

I will destroy them and the earth.<br />

This is the opposite of the Kingdom of <strong>Go</strong>d based on <strong>Love</strong>. Instead the freedom to choose<br />

led them in their choice of selfishnesss to a world built on competition - ‘Everyone trying to<br />

The population map shows a sudden fall of the life span to around 100 or less<br />

ORIGINAL SIN<br />

One of the direct sin committed by Adam and Eve consisted of disobedience to the<br />

commandment ‘not to eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil”.<br />

This act was done on the freewill of both Adam and Eve.<br />

The effect eating of the fruit of the Tree of <strong>Go</strong>od and Evil is not specifically spelled out.<br />

One of the effects was that “their eyes were open” which would mean they had a wider<br />

understanding of the pros and cons of their choices.<br />

Gen 3:7 Their eyes were opened, and they both knew that they were naked.<br />

They knew indicating the glaring awareness of life situation. They were spiritually alive and in<br />

clear consciousness of their sin and situation.<br />

Original sin may be taken to mean:<br />

the sin that Adam committed;<br />

a consequence of this first sin committed by father Adam and mother Eve, the children<br />

carried the heredity.<br />

St. Augustine's statement: "the deliberate sin of the first man is the cause of original sin" (De<br />

nupt. et concup., II, xxvi, 43). .<br />

Theodorus of Mopsuestia opened this controversy by denying that the sin of Adam was the<br />

Celestius, a friend of Pelagius, was the first in the West to hold these propositions, borrowed<br />

from Theodorus: "Adam was to die in every hypothesis, whether he sinned or did not sin. His<br />

sin injured himself only and not the human race" (<strong>Me</strong>rcator, "Liber Subnotationem", preface).<br />

This, the first position held by the Pelagians, was also the first point condemned at Carthage<br />

(Denzinger, "Enchiridion", no 101-old no. 65).<br />

This assertion of course was true because Adam and Eve had not tasted the fruit of the tree of<br />

life. It was for this reason <strong>Go</strong>d drove them out so that they may not live for ever and suffer<br />

the consequence of the eating of the fruit of the tree of the Knowledge of <strong>Go</strong>od and Evil by<br />

Adam and Eve and hence the rest of the family which fell under the struggle for self existence<br />

and a society based on selfishness.<br />

Catholics cited especially Romans 5:12, where Adam is shown as transmitting death with sin.<br />

Since Adam did not eat of the tree of life Adam and his progeny were under the blessing of<br />

death.<br />

The tendency of the original sin committed by the parents Adam and Eve were<br />

transmitted through DNA to all generations.<br />

What was transmitted was the knowledge of<br />

good and evil and with the total freedom of choice which they showed with which they chose<br />

to eat the fruit, they were also transmitted through generations.<br />

Even Marx was able to discover this freedom in man:<br />

activity. Man makes his life activity itself an object of his will and consciousness. He has<br />

conscious life activity. It is not a determination with which he directly merges. Conscious life<br />

activity directly distinguishes man from animal life activity. Only because of that is he a<br />

species-being. Or, rather, he is a conscious being – i.e., his own life is an object for him, only<br />

because he is a species-being. Only because of that is his activity free activity. Estranged<br />

labour reverses the relationship so that man, just because he is a conscious being, makes his<br />

life activity, his essential being, a mere means for his existence.”<br />

“Man is a species-being, not only because he practically and theoretically makes the species –<br />

both his own and those of other things – his object, but also – and this is simply another way<br />

of saying the same thing – because he looks upon himself as the present, living species,<br />

It is this freedom that led to the following ruling statements:<br />

What is important to note here is that even though there is the tendency to sin inherited, the<br />

freedom to choose the right is also given to every generation. Thus the children are<br />

responsible only for their actions’<br />

<strong>Not</strong>ice also that the the transmission of death to all generation is a continued blessing of <strong>Go</strong>d<br />

until total redemption can be achieved through the second Adam.<br />

1 Corinthians 15:21: "For by a man came death and by a man the resurrection of the dead".<br />

However churches seems to assert that man because of his sin has been punished with the<br />

death of the soul, which is nowhere found in the bible. <strong>Go</strong>d in his mercy not only granted<br />

death to the body to avoid eternal hell, but never ceased to be gracious to his children. <strong>Go</strong>d<br />

was there to hear the complaint of the murderer Cain. <strong>Go</strong>d continued to talk to his children<br />

through prophets. In every generation there were the righteous who held the responsibility.<br />

St. Augustine already cited, "the deliberate sin of the first man is the cause of original sin".<br />

This principle is developed by St. Anselm: "the sin of Adam was one thing but the sin of<br />

children at their birth is quite another, the former was the cause, the latter is the effect" (De<br />

conceptu virginali, xxvi). In a child original sin is distinct from the fault of Adam, it is one of its<br />

effects.<br />

Death and Suffering.- These are purely physical evils and cannot be called sin but both are<br />

the consequence of sin. But individual is is a personal matter. "There can be no sin that is not<br />

voluntary, the learned and the ignorant admit this evident truth", writes St. Augustine (De vera<br />

relig., xiv, 27).<br />

Further the religious hierarchy has developed the theory of baptism of infants to wash away<br />

this transmitted sin. While physical washing can be a symbol of washing away how it can<br />

wash away sins will remain a problem. While baptism is a ritual of being a member of the<br />

family of church and assures the care of the church and its families, how it can be a magic to<br />

wash away sins cannot be understood. If sanctification comes from knowing <strong>Go</strong>d, it will have<br />

to come as the child grow through instructions and exercise of the power of the Holy Spirit.<br />

Baptism may be an initiation for it on the faith of the parents it cannot wash away DNA<br />

heritage. The only saving factor is the freewill with which Adam himself acted that is<br />

transmitted to all mankind.<br />

There are two types of sins. Personal sins that a person commits voluntarily with his or her<br />

freewil and the Sins that are committed as part of the society which I call social sin. The<br />

competition and power struggle creates social structures that are exploiting others treat them<br />

without love. caste and class structures are examples of this. In fact behavior persons are<br />

formed by the society in which they live.<br />

"An individual can be considered either as an individual or as part of a whole, a member<br />

of a society . . . . Considered in the second way an act can be his although he has not done it<br />

himself, nor has it been done by his free will but by the rest of the society or by its head, the<br />

nation being considered as doing what the prince does. For a society is considered as a single<br />

man of whom the individuals are the different members (St. Paul, 1 Corinthians 12). Thus the<br />

multitude of men who receive their human nature from Adam is to be considered as a single<br />

community or rather as a single body . . . . If the man, whose privation of original justice is due<br />

to Adam, is considered as a private person, this privation is not his 'fault', for a fault is<br />

essentially voluntary. If, however, we consider him as a member of the family of Adam, as if all<br />

men were only one man, then his privation partakes of the nature of sin on account of its<br />

voluntary origin, which is the actual sin of Adam" (De Malo, iv, 1).<br />

It is this law of solidarity, admitted by common sentiment, which attributes to children a part of<br />

the shame resulting from the father's crime. It is not a personal crime, but it is paternal crime"<br />

(Augustine, Op. imperf., I, cxlviii). Being a distinct person I am not strictly responsible for the<br />

crime of another; the act is not mine. Yet, as a member of the human family, I am supposed to<br />

have acted with its head who represented it with regard to the conservation or the loss of<br />

grace. I am, therefore, responsible for my privation of grace, taking responsibility in the largest<br />

sense of the word. This, however, is enough to make the state of privation of grace in a certain<br />

degree voluntary, and, therefore, "without absurdity it may be said to be voluntary" (St.<br />

O DEATH WHERE IS THY STING?<br />

<strong>Go</strong>d created the heavens and the earth in six days and rested on the seventh day.<br />

All of <strong>Go</strong>d's creations were “good”<br />

“For thus saith the Lord that created the heavens; <strong>Go</strong>d Himself that formed the earth and made it;<br />

He hath established it, He created it not in vain, He formed it to be inhabited: I am the Lord; and there<br />

is none else” (Isa.45:18).<br />

Evidently earth was created for the inhabitance of man. When <strong>Go</strong>d wanted to place his Son Adam,<br />

He specially selected an area which was called Eden. The first inhabitation took place in this Eden<br />

and in a Garden towards the East of Eden where he placed Adam and Eve. The garden of Eden<br />

was thus a special place within earth. Man was made to till and to keep this earth where we live and<br />

man’s destiny is bound with earth.<br />

When <strong>Go</strong>d drove man out of the Garden of Eden he began to occupy the rest of the earth. It is this<br />

life that became hell for mankind because of the selfishness of man as the inherited original sin.<br />

Heaven and Hell are experienced as we live with all the three body, mind and soul. It is this hell life<br />

<strong>Go</strong>d in his love and mercy reduced to less than 1/10 of <strong>Go</strong>d’s day (less than 100 years) by allowing<br />

them to sleep. Death is the sleep of <strong>Go</strong>d’s children.<br />

and that they may enter the city by the gates."<br />

The Bible compares death to sleep more than fifty times. When we are asleep, we are unconscious;<br />

we are not aware of the passing of time or of what is going on around us. <strong>That</strong> is what death is like as<br />

well.<br />

Bible verses that use sleep, as a metaphor for Death:<br />

Jn 11:11-14 "Our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep; but I go, that I may awaken him out of sleep."<br />

The disciples therefore said to Him, "Lord, if he has fallen asleep, he will recover." Now Jesus had<br />

“(Man’s) spirit (breath K.J.V.) departs, he returns to his earth; in that very day (moment) his plans<br />

perish” (Ps. 146:4).<br />

“The dead know nothing...their love, their hatred, and their envy is now perished” (Ecc. 9:5,6). There<br />

is no “wisdom in the grave” (Ecc. 9:10) - no thinking and therefore no consciousness.<br />

Job says that on death, he would be “as though he had not been” (Job 10:18-19); he saw death as<br />

the oblivion, unconsciousness and total lack of existence which we had before we were born.<br />

These seem to indicate that death is the end of man<br />

This seems to indicate a resprouting of the dead who are asleep with a new body -<br />

reincarnations or resurrections or “souls rolling through time”<br />

Hebrew term for this type of series of life (which could be thought of as a type of reincarnation) is<br />

gilgul, “rolling,” that is, the soul “rolls” through time from one body to a renewed body. This process<br />

will repeat until the soul is perfected when it returns to be with the Lord. Until the coming of the<br />

<strong>Me</strong>ssiah the atonement will have to be done by each soul. <strong>Me</strong>ssiah will be able to provide<br />

atonement once and for all to all those who believe and identify with him.<br />

The earliest [non-Karaite] reference to this doctrine is that of Saadiah [882-942AD] (Beliefs and<br />

Opinions, vi. 8). Maimonides' 13 Principles of Faith. Kabbalah (Jewish mysticism), teaches a belief<br />

in gilgul, transmigration of souls, and hence the belief is universal in Hasidic Judaism, which regards<br />

the Kabbalah as sacred and authoritative. But not all traditions accepts this interpretation.<br />

Dreaming is a conscious activity while asleep.<br />

Jesus refuted the Sadducees by proving that the dead are not extinct, but continue to exist.<br />

We live together with Him whether we are awake or asleep 1 Th 5:10<br />

What happens to your soul when you die?<br />

Many Christians think of the soul as an immortal entity within us that goes on living after death. What<br />

does the Bible say? Describing the creation of human beings in the beginning, the Bible says, “And<br />

the LORD <strong>Go</strong>d formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life;<br />

and man became a living soul” (Genesis 2:7, KJV). Other Bible translations say, “. . . and man<br />

became a living being” (NKJV; NIV). <strong>Go</strong>d did not put a soul into man. He formed the body from the<br />

dust of the ground, and then He breathed His life-giving spirit into the lifeless body—and the result<br />

was a soul, or a living being. When a person dies, the reverse takes place. The breath of life departs<br />

from the body, and the soul no longer exists. <strong>That</strong>’s what the Bible says. “The dust returns to the<br />

ground it came from, and the spirit returns to <strong>Go</strong>d who gave it” (Ecclesiastes 12:7, NIV). At the<br />

resurrection, <strong>Go</strong>d reunites the body and His life-giving spirit—and the person lives again.<br />

If souls existed as separate entities that lived on after we died, that would mean we have immortality.<br />

However, the Bible says human beings do not have immortality. Only <strong>Go</strong>d is immortal (see 1 Timothy<br />

6:15, 16). Paul says that the righteous “seek for glory, honor, and immortality” (Romans 2:7). If we<br />

had immortal souls, why would the righteous seek after something they already have?<br />

Is there life after death?<br />

Though we may die, Jesus says, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in <strong>Me</strong>, though<br />

he may die, he shall live.” (John 11:25).<br />

We will receive immortality when Jesus comes again (see 1 Corinthians 15:51-54).<br />

The Bible says that all those who have died—both righteous and wicked—will be raised to life in one<br />

of two resurrections.<br />

The righteous will be raised to life at Jesus’ second coming.<br />

“ For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and<br />

with the trumpet of <strong>Go</strong>d. And the dead in Christ will rise first.” (1 Thessalonians 4:16, NKJV).<br />

According to this verse, the righteous do not to go heaven when they die. They remain asleep in the<br />

grave until Jesus returns and raises them to immortal life (see 1 Corinthians 15:50-57).<br />

The wicked are raised to life in a separate resurrection—the resurrection of condemnation. Jesus said,<br />

“Do not marvel at this; for the hour is coming in which all who are in the graves will hear His voice and<br />

come forth—those who have done good, to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil, to<br />

the resurrection of condemnation.” (John 5:28, 29, NKJV).<br />

The prophets never mention in the Bible that the righteous immediately go to heaven or the wicked go<br />

to hell when they die. Neither did Jesus and His apostles teach it. When Jesus was about to leave His<br />

disciples, He did not tell them they would soon come to Him.<br />

“<strong>Let</strong> not your heart be troubled; you believe in <strong>Go</strong>d, believe also in <strong>Me</strong>. In My Father’s house are<br />

many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.And if I go and<br />

prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may<br />

be also.” (John 14:1-3, NKJV).<br />

When He returns, our loved ones asleep in Christ will awake from their tombs. No matter how long<br />

the time has passed, be it long or short, will be but a moment to them. By the voice of Jesus, they are<br />

called forth from their deep slumber they will begin to think just where they ceased, awakening to a<br />

glorious immortality.<br />

“For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible…So when this corruptible has<br />

put on incorruption, and this mortal has put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying<br />

that is written: ‘Death is swallowed up in victory.’”<br />

“O Death, where is your sting?<br />

O Hades, where is your victory?” (1 Corinthians 15:55).<br />

At his return, Christ “will transform our lowly body, that it may be conformed to his glorious body” (Phil.<br />

3:20,21). Those who have died and decomposed to dust will “awake and sing” (Is. 26:19).<br />

Through baptism we associate ourselves with Christ’s death and resurrection, showing our belief that<br />

we too will share the reward which he received through his resurrection (Rom. 6:3-5).<br />

Through sharing in his sufferings now, we will also share his reward: “carrying about (now) in the<br />

body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life of Jeus also may be manifested in our body” (2 Cor.<br />

4:10).<br />

“He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit” (Rom.<br />

8:11). With this hope, we therefore wait for “the redemption of our body” (Rom. 8:23), through that<br />

Isaiah’s hope was identical: “My dead body shall...arise” (Is. 26:19).<br />

“Your brother will rise again…Martha said to him, I know that he will rise again in the resurrection at<br />

the last day” (Jn. 11:23,24).<br />

“Everyone who has heard and learned from the Father...I will raise him up at the last day” (Jn.<br />
