<strong>The</strong> boss was a very old school gentleman type of manager and the 3 of us just gelled. I <br />
couldn't believe it and I could just feel the vibes say<strong>in</strong>g we are go<strong>in</strong>g to be <strong>in</strong> luck here. <br />
So I told him about the Estate and of course he knew it <strong>in</strong>side out because he had customers <br />
from the Estate on his books already. <br />
We left with a leaflet with all the conditions etc, etc, and the boss say<strong>in</strong>g come and see me <br />
next Saturday and I will give you an answer... <br />
Come next Saturday, we arrived with baited breath, wonder<strong>in</strong>g what the reply would be and <br />
the answer was, “hello Mr and Mrs Riches, congratulations, you can now be a share holder <br />
with our company, what do you th<strong>in</strong>k”, we said “well that's supper, but we haven't been <br />
bank<strong>in</strong>g with you as per one of your conditions” and he replied “don't worry, you've got your <br />
mortgage let's discuss that now”. <br />
So we decided the length, monthly payments etc etc, and we went away 2 very happy <br />
bunnies. <br />
Look<strong>in</strong>g back today September 2014, w<strong>in</strong>n<strong>in</strong>g that football pools, although not the £75000 <br />
w<strong>in</strong>, set us up on the property market so we were very lucky when many <strong>in</strong> our peer group <br />
were still rent<strong>in</strong>g, accept the ones with rich mums and dads! <br />
. . . . . . . . . . . . <br />
Now let's get back to target, before I deviated, the subject matter was the caravan site, I gave <br />
our notice to the landlords and everyone was <strong>in</strong> tears... We luv you Val and Derek, you are <br />
so lovely both of you, we can't let you go, and they were <strong>in</strong> tears, Mr & Mrs Crittenden, the <br />
daughters and the mother all whal<strong>in</strong>g, we found it very humbl<strong>in</strong>g, and I thought if this is just <br />
giv<strong>in</strong>g notice <strong>in</strong> what will happen we move out!!! <br />
Now this is the twist to our story, Mrs Crittenden came to the door of our caravan look<strong>in</strong>g <br />
very unhappy say<strong>in</strong>g can I come <strong>in</strong>side and talk to you Derek and of course I wondered what's <br />
go<strong>in</strong>g on, her request was, before I left could I please teach her the <strong>in</strong>s and outs of do<strong>in</strong>g <br />
Littlewoods Football Pools, bear<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> m<strong>in</strong>d this lovely lady could not read or write... I felt very <br />
honoured and said yes but I can't guarantee that you are go<strong>in</strong>g to w<strong>in</strong> and we just laughed. <br />
So over the next 3 to 4 weeks we spent time learn<strong>in</strong>g the techniques of try<strong>in</strong>g to w<strong>in</strong> some <br />
money on the Pools... <br />
Fast forward, approximately 35 years after we left the site, was our first visit we made back <br />
to the caravan site, because I'd been travell<strong>in</strong>g a lot work<strong>in</strong>g abroad and never managed to <br />
see them aga<strong>in</strong> until 35 years later??? <br />
