of free workshops,
information sessions
and subject taster days
to help raise awareness
of the opportunities
available to prospective
learners.
We also recognise that
making a commitment to
study is difficult for people
to do. So, we have designed
a whole series of toe-dipping
experiences at Birkbeck
which support people into
taking a step towards
discovering and following
their educational goals.
Over the summer, beginning
in June, Birkbeck will be
running an ongoing series
of free events at the 639
Enterprise Centre.

Tottenham Perks
Coffee Morning,
Blooming Scent Café
Tuesdays, 9.30–11.30am
Those attending this coffee
morning will be able to meet with
specialist staff offering career and
educational advice. Each session
will explore pathways to university
and beyond.
Learners’ Lounge
Wednesdays 4-–6.30pm
This drop-in service provides a
space to chat with staff from
Birkbeck and other education
providers, who can answer
questions about how to go about
accessing higher education and
career pathways. Each week’s
theme will be based upon areas
of interest people wish to explore
further, including academic skills,
career mapping, application
support, maths, and a new study
space for those looking for a
supportive learning environment.
Tottenham Summer
of Learning
Wednesdays 6–8.30pm
This summer, the Learners’
Lounge will have extended activity
taking place between. These
sessions will be hosted by guest
lectures and speakers presenting
thought provoking topics for
discussion. Topics range from
Business Studies to Community
Development. All are welcome!

Step into university:
Higher Education
Introductory Studies
in Business
As part of the initiative, Birkbeck
is offering residents who
participate the opportunity
to progress onto its Higher
Education Introductory Studies
(HEIS) course, a fast-track
programme designed to facilitate
entry to university. Students who
undertake this course will also be
offered £2000 bursaries towards
their study. Course starts this
September.
