We went rock crawling while we marked
one of the trails South of JHB - she never
overheated, thanks to the aftermarket
fans fitted that cool the radiators and belt
drive system - and you can still happily
use the engines torque to get you through
the tricky stuff.
The conversion that Fire It Up
performed on the Maverick was a stage
3 conversion, 28HP gain.
Basically, The ECU/DME is remapped
to offer maximum performance with the
following additional features:
1. Speed Limiter Removed.
2. Torque Limiter Increased.
3. Fan calibrated to switch on earlier.
4. RPM limiter increased to safe levels.
5. Throttle response improved
6. ECU MAP adjusted for aftermarket
components such as exhausts etc.
Stage 1: 20HP gain on stock vehicleno

Stage 3: 28 HP gain with CAT removal
and exhaust system, cooling system

who can make it run even better without
any invasive surgery. Banie and Liesel
have not driven their newly breathed
upon Maverick yet - we’ll get their take
on the enhancements in future issues,
but we are fairly certain that they will be
smiling - A lot.
