Singing with friends on the Italian sunny island The sunny island of Grado and its numerous venues, short walking distances and a historic city centre as well as manifold touristic sights within the region of Trieste and Venice represent the perfect place for a meeting of international choirs. Special highlights are the appearances at the basilica Sant‘Eufemia in Grado and the basilica in Aquileia. Apart from participating in the competitions all choirs can dare to take part in the exciting experiment to swap conductors for a Friendship Concert and perform under the direction of another international conductor.

It is a great pleasure for me to express warm<br />
greetings and a cordial welcome to all participants<br />
of the 8 th “Isola del Sole” - International Choir<br />
Competition and Festival taking place in <strong>Grado</strong><br />
from September 28 to October 2, <strong>2016</strong>.<br />
<strong>Grado</strong> is very happy to host this important and<br />
prestigious event, which will unite choirs from<br />
all over the world to compete in this high-profile<br />
contest set in an atmosphere of friendship.<br />
Music is a universal language that is able to<br />
communicate messages and convey contents<br />
of utmost significance and that contributes to<br />
overcoming cultural, social and language barriers<br />
by bringing back into focus the value of mutual<br />
respect among the people and the nations of the<br />
world.<br />
I am sure that your performances will be met<br />
with particular interest and affection on the part<br />
of the inhabitants of <strong>Grado</strong> and our guests.<br />
