These sample the systems design and
layout of the mechanical, electrical,
plumbing, sanitary, structural, and various
technical systems of the Maker Hub:
Creative Industry Incubator which was
undertaken as a final undergraduate
thesis project. In good practice, the design
thesis was undertaken with the intent to
comprehensively detail the underlying
systems of an technologically-enabled
office high rise in the 21st century.
The structural system of the Maker Hub is
designed to accommodate program
flexibility as well as ensure high-rise
stability in seismic and wind events.
Attention to architectural and construction
details help flesh out the basic framework
for the exernal facade system and the
internal workspace environment. Due
consideration was given to the to the
loading calculation, layout, and
specification of the various high-rise
plumbing systems, water recycling
systems, VRV air-conditioning, electrical
systems, alternate power storage &
generation solutions, and a conceptual
application of an integrated building
management system. It was the intent of
the designer to approach the theoretical
design thesis with the same rigors due to
an actual real-life project.
Structure and method of
construction integrate into the
design and function of the
high-rise building from its
foundations to its roof deck.
