EDITOR’S NOTE
To all our readers, advertisers and friends, I greet you as the new editor of
MzanziTravel and hope to build on the sterling work of my predecessor and our
entire very dedicated and fantastic team.
It has been a sheer pleasure and exciting journey producing this, our 3rd edition and my
first. MzanziTravel is certainly establishing itself as the premier publication for both foreign
and local domestic tourists in South Africa, covering every tourism niche. One of our key
aims is to open up the immense tourism potential of South Africa to its own citizens and
inspire local travel. An entire universe of experiences and delights are to be found right
here within our borders.
In our new regular feature called Hidden Gems, we explore those fascinating and often
little-known places off the beaten track, to be discovered all over South Africa. But we don’t
stop at the border; we also explore the rest of Africa in all its wonderful variety in each
edition. This time we focus on that ancient and fascinating land, Ethiopia, while we also take
you on an adventurous Namibian love affair.
In this edition we also visit the beautiful iSimangaliso Wetland Park, South Africa’s first
UNESCO World Heritage Site; explore the cultural and natural diversity of life along the
banks of the Olifants River; focus on KwaZulu-Natal, land of the Zulu Kingdom, icons,
legends and battlefields; we step back in time and rediscover the coast and South Africa’s
historic lighthouses; experience the creative Karoo spectacle of AfrikaBurn; and submerge
ourselves into the urban hustle and bustle of Johannesburg’s innovative Maboneng
Precinct.
I’d also like to share with you that MzanziTravel is proud to be a gold-tiered Media Partner
for the WTM Africa 2017 tourism trade fair taking place in Cape Town between 19 - 21 April
2017, and that we are now also officially affiliated to Cape Town Tourism. Finally, we have
changed our paper stock from a mat to a glossy finish as part of our effort to constantly
improve your reading and visual pleasure.
Enjoy the read!
