The Buffalo Tree It was at my first women’s retreat that I met Pops. I could see the pain in his eyes when he told me I needed to go visit his mama, Dolta Jo Morgan, at the Buffalo Tree. Almost a year later I finally made my way there... when I arrived that summer day, there by the rock that marks her grave was a blossoming rose. It was remarkable. With each story Pops tells, Mama Morgan’s life comes alive. A woman of faith. Mama had a passion for God’s word that simply couldn’t be quenched. Mama Morgan was a true Mary. There by the rock that marks her grave a blossoming rose remains. He too is remarkable. He is a rose of Sharon, a lily of the valleys.
