Aims of undergraduate MEDICAL EDUCATION
2. Psychomotor Domain (Skills)
A medical graduate at the conclusion of undergraduate training is able to:-
a. Collect fluids, effusions, blood, secretions, discharges and excretions from the human body
correctly for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes.
b. Perform simple laboratory investigation personally.
c. Take simple X-rays and ECG personally.
d. Conduct normal deliveries correctly.
e. Apply dressing, bandages and splints correctly.
f. Perform minor surgical procedures correctly.
g. Perform incidental administrative duties in the delivery of health care.
h. Re-suscitate patients properly including endotracheal intubation.
i. Give local anesthesia safely.
j. Perform the duty of certification and post-mortem correctly.
3. Affective domain (Beliefs & Attitudes)
A medical graduate at the conclusion of undergraduate training is able to:-
a. Display virtues of personal character i.e sense of responsibility towards patients, community
and colleagues, sense of sacrifice and devotion to duty, concern and respect for other
individual’s integrity, honesty, faithfulness, tolerance, patience, sympathy and kindness.
b. Demonstrate and recognize his / her professional limitations.
c. Develop and maintain good relations with patients and all persons concerned in the
delivery of health care.
d. Practice asepsis, immunization and other preventive measures against disease.
e. Educate guides and help in adoption of preventive and curative measures against disease.
f. Demonstrate the urge for continuously improving his / her professional knowledge, skills
and attitude with critical and inquiring approach.
g. Show willingness to take part in education and training of student, Para-Medical personnel
and demonstrating a spirit of sportsmanship and teamwork.
h. Assume leadership in the team of Health Care delivery as well as accept the leadership of
his seniors, demonstrating a spirit of sportsmanship and teamwork.
i. Give advice on population planning and social welfare.
j. Identify himself / herself with community.
