searched far and wide for the best German recipes
– both authentic and with a twist . GutenAppetit!
Apfelstrudel (apple strudel) is a delicious pastry
filled with apples flavored with sugar, cinnamon,
raisins and breadcrumbs – and has been popular
since the 18th century . The delicate flakey pastry
is made from elastic dough, which is kneaded
and stretched until it’s as thin as phyllo pastry .
invented some of the most creative, daring, and
yes, downright craziest dishes the world has ever
seen . Sure, they can be overly greasy, a little
too cheesy, and sometimes fried a few times
too many . But they’re ours . So to celebrate
Independence Day, we’ve put together this list
of the best foods that only a country with just
the right combination of greed, grit, and gluttony
could have possibly dreamed up .
India
"Birchermüesli" was invented by Maximilian
Oskar Bircher-Benner (1867-1939), a pioneer of
the biological health medicine and whole foods
diet .
Dr . Bircher was active in Zürich and he had a
great impact on our feeding habits . Around
1900, he suggested that cereals, fruits and
vegetables are more valuable food than meat,
but his colleagues did not agree with his points
of view . But even if the public opinion did not
follow his ideas, he had more faith in his own
experiences than the current doctrine .
While at that time meat was regarded as the
best suited and most valuable food for humans,
vegetables and fruits were considered food of
the poor people . But Dr . Bircher continued
to believe in what he called "food of the
sunlight", meals based on biological, natural
ingredients . He created a recipe which is
known today worldwide as "Birchmüesli" . He
was also convinced that health care should
be much more than just medical treatments .
In 1897, Dr . Bircher founded a health clinc in
Zürich, where he practiced a holistic therapy
which included whole foods diet, a daily walk,
bathing and sunbathing . He even set up
exercise equipment, so we can see his health
clinc as a kind of a fore runner of the gym and
fitness centers as we know them today .
Germany
German food is rich, substantial and delicious,
with each region having its own specialty dishes
and traditional cuisine . And what better way
to explore German culture than creating your
own German specialties? That's why we have
The pastry is wrapped round and round the filling
building up many layers, and then baked . It’s
served warm in slices sprinkled with powdered or
icing sugar .
America
When it comes to food, America gets a bad
rap . It’s a common refrain that America has
no cuisine to call our own . We’ve got apple pie
and hot dogs, but that’s about it . (And when
you really get down to it, the Germans invented
hot dogs, and the British were eating apple pie
like 1,000 years ago .)
But the truth is, America does have a cuisine
to call its own . Over the past 232 years we’ve
Some say that the Indian cuisine is almost as
diverse as the entire European cuisine, because
of the four different main regional styles: the
North Indian cuisine (the regions Benaras,
Kashmir, Mughlai, Punjab and Rajasthan), the
South Indian cuisine (regions Andhra, Kannada,
Kerala and Tamil), East Indian cuisine (regions
Assamese and Bengali) and Western Indian
cuisine (regions Gujarat, Maharashtrian and
Malwani) . The northern part of India is mostly
rural, although it contains large cities such
as Delphi or Calcutta, thus its cuisine is more
agricultural than anything, wheat being a primary
constituent of this region’s dishes . Southern
regions however tend to be more exotic, more
spicy in their dishes and rice is a constant
ingredient in their food . To give the taste of
their main dishes, North Indians use onions and
coriander whilst southerners use a more exotic
coconut base for their dishes .
Macau
Macau is famous for its cuisine and for the quality
of the food served by the territory's restaurants
and hotels . It is hard to find another city with
such a concentration of restaurants offering so
many different cuisines to suit so many tastes at
all kinds of budget . In fact food has always played
a major part in Macau society and is a good
reflection of the community's long multicultural
experience and present cosmopolitan way of
life .
First of all Macau has a fine selection of coffee
shops, in Portuguese, Italian and American style
(especially around Travessa de S . Domingos
and Rua Pedro José Lobo, in the city centre,
and Rua de Nagasaki) . They offer a wide variety
of superior blends in a relaxed and friendly
atmosphere . They all also sell delicious pastries
-- not to be missed are Macau's version of the
traditional Portuguese egg tart, or pastel de
nata, and coconut cake . Also available are soft
drinks, juices and cocktails .
of UAE, you will find that most of the traditional
Arabs are used to consume sheep and goats to
obtain meat . Whereas on special occasions like
Eid and wedding functions people also use camels
to make traditional UAE dishes . But restaurants
the year for tourists and visitors . Following
are the 5 must try traditional food of UAE that
