LEVEL 4 LEADERSHIP<br />
<strong>Dementia</strong> leadership in hospitals<br />
<strong>Dementia</strong> has been recognised as the ninth National Health Priority by state health ministers throughout <strong>Australia</strong>,<br />
leading to reforms aimed at improving outcomes for people with dementia in acute care.<br />
In this workshop you will explore dementia leadership within health care settings. You will consider tools and<br />
strategies for leading dementia practice change whilst meeting recommendations set by the <strong>Australia</strong>n Commission<br />
for Quality and Safety in Health Care.<br />
At the end of this session you will be able to:<br />
• identify the skills and attributes of effective leaders in dementia services<br />
• discuss the opportunities for leading person-centred practice improvement<br />
• explore the practical application of leadership tools to support practice improvement and culture change<br />
• understand the recommendations of the <strong>Australia</strong>n Commission for Quality and Safety in Healthcare<br />
‘A Better Way to Care’<br />
This program is based on the 3 hour ‘<strong>Dementia</strong> support in hospitals’ program and further explores ways of leading<br />
practice change.<br />
If you have completed ‘<strong>Dementia</strong> support in hospitals’ you will only be required to attend the second 3 hour half of<br />
this workshop.<br />
