PLACE FOR TOWNS AND CITIES
19
Over recent weeks Revive & Thrive
started addressing the lack of a UK wide
organisation to represent and support
BIDs, Towns, High Streets and Places UK
wide.
Reacting to the many incoming calls
and discussions around the UK raising
concern in this area, we started new
discussions and research to
ask whether there would be
support for Revive & Thrive filling this
void.
Without exception the feedback has
been extremely positive and supportive.
We think that it is important to share
some of the statements of support and
I would urge you to read
the comment piece by Simon Quin
on page number 32 as he considers the
current landscape.
We continue to be grateful for feedback
and if you share a view we’d love to hear
it.
"We fully support Revive & Thrive becoming a
single point of contact for UK's places. We are
pleased to be offering support in an advisory role
ahead of forming a more compelling relationship
with Revive & Thrive Spring 2017"
Phil Prentice, Chief Officer of Scotland’s Towns Partnership
“At the moment there appears to be a fragmented state of support
for town centres and BIDs, with various organisations changing their
focus and how the services they offer for the UK's places.
It is good to hear that Revive & Thrive are rising to the challenge
and forming a single voice for UK's places so all interested parties
can be heard and make each other aware of what is going on at all
levels of the Place management in the UK. I look forward to being
involved.”
Mark Brodermann
“I would be delighted to serve Revive & Thrive as
either a Board Member or on the Steering Group.
Practical and Strategic support for towns, cities and
their stakeholders is essential. The role of Place /BID
Manager can be a difficult role to deliver as there
are often many conflicting interests to balance and
many balls to keep in the air.
At this uncertain time for post-Brexit Britain it is very important
that our towns and cities are championed as the engines of the
UK economy. I believe that Revive & Thrive has an increasingly
influential role to play in support those working on the front line and
in shaping national policy to make our urban centres vibrant and
viable.”
