Norman Rockwell’s “Stockbridge Main Street at Christmas”
Project Details
Since 1773, The Red Lion Inn has been welcoming visitors to the beauty of the Berkshire Mountains
with traditional New England hospitality. Immortalized in Norman Rockwell’s painting, “Stockbridge
Main Street at Christmas.” the historic inn still maintains its original charm. A multiple phased
renovation of the Inn included the complete replacement of electrical, plumbing, HVAC systems,
introduction of a sprinkler system, structural repairs and renovations to the guest accommodations
and public spaces. The original doors, windows and historic finishes were completely restored.
All construction was performed in accordance with the Secretary of the Interior’s Standard for
Rehabilitation.
