A big well done to students whose attendance at school this year has been truly outstanding, there are a lot of students who have been here every single day and the difference it makes to your achievement is massive so well done to you all. Another huge well done to these students who are top twenty in Grove in gaining achievement points: Abbey Farmer, Jovan Ellis, Josh Harpin, Dominic Walker, Joanne Eley, Caitlin Hargreaves, Caitlin Seerey, Dominik Tiskevic, Daniel Grainge, Musa Gunes, Freya Hawkyard, Grace Brian, Damien Ward, Ben Rowe, Daniel Hartshorn, Oliwia Swierczynska, Sophie Hardy, Karis Melia, Pearce Smith, Jack Dalton! Final word from Donnie, our House Captain I feel my role of House Captain of Grove is to improve Student’s School experience with encouraging them to voice their opinion with subjects they are passionate about, and promoting school events such as the Quiz and Inter-House events. By doing this, they can interact with other students who share the same interests and hobbies and this allows the students to bond with different age groups, who they wouldn’t normally tend to socialise with. Being the Grove’s House Captain, I will support my students especially younger years to allow them to feel welcomed and supported. I will do this during tutor by getting all years to together to interact to form positive relationship together by doing discussions, challenges and activities. I feel proud to represent the Grove House, I feel excited to have this opportunity to make a change in the school and bringing peers together in order to improve our school committee. I am looking forward to taking this opportunity to be a role model to other students, to encourage them to take other roles in Grove’s committee when they are offered the chance, because I believe it allows students to gain more confidence and proud to be an active member of the House, if they do not represent the school in another way. Pledge to Succeed This first term has been action packed. We saw the launch of the new Pledge system and students are well underway with their Pledges having many signed off in their passports already. Many students have attended, participated or supported in one or more of the lunchtime/after school clubs achieving their Sport, Fundraising or Performing Arts targets. In addition to these scheduled clubs, students may have been involved in some of the seasonal activities that have taken place so far ranging from the Halloween Writing Competition to the Children in Need Fancy Dress Competition. Plans are already in place to get students further engaged at The <strong>Carlton</strong> <strong>Academy</strong> in the New Year and I look forward to sharing the successes of the students with you as we move forward. Cavendish House Autumn Review It has been an exciting term for Cavendish House, with a new Head of House and new tutors getting to know our fantastic young people and welcoming in our new intake. Our Year 7 students have been busy settling into life at Secondary school whilst the older members of the House have been preparing themselves for the challenges and opportunities which Year 11 brings. Our Year 8 student ambassadors have been a credit to us all, going about their tasks with efficiency and excellent manners wherever their jobs take them throughout the school.Cavendish students have begun to make progress in our new pledge programme which celebrates their achievements and gives them opportunities to develop their confidence and learn new skills. All students in Cavendish House have given their best in lessons but special mention must be made to the twenty students who have achieved the highest points in the house: Kajol Chahal (Highest number of achievement points in the whole school!), Bradley Seaman, Marsel Alibashi, Max Foster, Savannah Evans, Ben Morley, Jacob Woodroffe, Millie Tozer, Zaveer Lindsay, Harvey Basra, Charlie Want, Dylan Iles, Ellie- May Smith, Yasmine Marson, James Holt, Ellie-Mai Edgar, Kia Wright, Amit Chahal, Jake Tongue, Rachel Smith. Year 11 are at an important point in their education and the following students have made outstanding effort so far this term: Brandreth Jed Spibey Elle Pacey Ellie Scholey Hadleigh Rouse Cerys Bull Oliver Hand Charlie Bostock-Mckenzie Finley Powell Chloe Townsend Holly Bassett Callum Holland Venetia Swann Madeline Terry Kia Seston Joseph Wilkins Emily As part of the changes which have taken place we have some new appointments within Cavendish House; Sports Leader – Millie Smith, Events Leader – Aimee Starr, Media Technician – Lucy Tuckwood Along with our House Captain Jed Brandreth and Vice Captain Cerys Rouse, they will be working with our House Achievement Co-ordinator Miss Slack to give our students the very best opportunities and experiences possible. As a House we have already made great progress towards the House Cup, participating in competitions and Inter-House events, and students are beginning to earn more achievement points for their work both in and out of lessons. The success we have enjoyed relies on everyone working together to succeed, and so I would like to thank all of our Tutors for the work they have done with their forms.
