The <strong>Ferguslie</strong> <strong>Learning</strong> <strong>Centre</strong> provides certificated<br />
learning opportunities at beginner’s levels within a friendly,<br />
community environment.<br />
The programme has been designed to assist adult learners who have little or no formal<br />
qualifications, which will help them increase their confidence and personal wellbeing,<br />
employability skills and career opportunities.<br />

This 6 week course will help you to identify your personal skills<br />
and qualities, explore learning options, create a personal profile<br />
to apply for jobs, learn more about stress and coping strategies.<br />
Introduction to Sewing (non-certificated)<br />
13/2/17 to 20/3/17<br />
1.00 pm to 3.30 pm<br />
This 6 week programme will give Learners increased<br />
confidence with hand sewing skills.If you would like to expand<br />
on the absolute basics of hand sewing or you are looking to<br />
learn some simple stitches to make do and mend eg. (sew up a<br />
hem or sew on a button) this is the class for you. (Certificated<br />
courses will be offered as a progression in our future<br />
programmes)<br />

Introduction to Horticulture (non-certificated)<br />

This 7 week programme will be the beginning of the planning<br />
and preparation for our <strong>Learning</strong> <strong>Centre</strong>, Community Garden.<br />
This programme will be an excellent starting point for any<br />
learners who would like to increase their knowledge and<br />
understanding of gardening, providing an introduction to the<br />
key principles of Horticulture. Learners will gain confidence<br />
and increase practical knowledge which will enable them to<br />
use in their own gardens.<br />

Improving Wellbeing<br />

17/1/17 to 23/5/17<br />
9.30 am to 12.00 noon<br />
Learners will undertake an activity aimed at improving the<br />
wellbeing of themselves or others, setting out targets, carrying<br />
out a plan for improving wellbeing. They will also evaluate and<br />
review the planned activity. This will include a review of how the<br />
activity has impacted on their personal wellbeing.<br />
Basic Customer Service<br />

17/1/17 to 14/3/17<br />
1.00 pm to 3.30 pm<br />
This course will help you understand the personal factors<br />
and skills required in making a positive first impression with<br />
customers and dealing with customers’ needs. In particular,<br />
you will develop good communication and effective listening<br />
skills.<br />
Customer Service Principles & Practices<br />

This course covers the principles of customer’s service; how to<br />
present yourself to a customer in person or on the phone and<br />
how to deal with difficult situations.

Learners will also develop knowledge of the location of a<br />

features and will develop an awareness of their appeal to<br />

spreadsheets and implementing practical solutions using a range<br />
of basic features.<br />
Moving on in IT<br />

This course is suitable for learners who have basic IT knowledge<br />
or have completed the Getting Started in IT course and would<br />
like to progress and improve their computing Skills.<br />
This Unit is suitable for learners who have no previous<br />
experience of using spreadsheet applications and wish to gain<br />
basic competency in their use.<br />

Personal Development - Practical Abilities<br />

This course will enable learners to improve their self-reliance<br />
and confidence by developing their practical abilities while<br />
