The <strong>Ferguslie</strong> <strong>Learning</strong> <strong>Centre</strong> provides certificated<br />

learning opportunities at beginner’s levels within a friendly,<br />

community environment.<br />

This <strong>Ferguslie</strong> <strong>Learning</strong> programme is designed to assist adult learners building upon their<br />

Employability and Life skills using a blended learning approach. The <strong>Centre</strong> is based in the heart<br />

of <strong>Ferguslie</strong> and provides a warm welcoming environment for adults returning to learning.<br />

Monday<br />

Cyber Security -<br />

Fundamentals<br />

SCQF Level 4<br />

23 <strong>August</strong> – 13 December <strong>2021</strong><br />

1pm – 3.30pm<br />

Method of delivery: Online<br />

Learners will be Introduced to<br />

how cyber security works, how to<br />

keep themselves safe online. Also<br />

learning about common threats<br />

and exploring how cyber-attacks<br />

happen and what we can do to<br />

prevent them.<br />

Getting Started in IT<br />

SCQF Level 3<br />

23 <strong>August</strong> – 13 December <strong>2021</strong><br />

9.30am – 12 noon<br />

Method of delivery: Online<br />

Learners will gain an understanding<br />

of basic computing including word<br />

processing, saving, retrieving and<br />

editing files along with Internet<br />

searching.<br />

Developing Further in IT<br />

SCQF Level 5<br />

23 <strong>August</strong> – 13 December <strong>2021</strong><br />

1pm – 3.30pm<br />

Method of delivery: Online<br />

This course is for learners who have<br />

completed the Getting Started in IT<br />

course and progressing. Other learners<br />

may join the class if they already have<br />

good IT skills and knowledge and have<br />

recently successfully completed a<br />

qualification at SCQF Level 4. If you are<br />

unsure if you can join this class, please<br />

speak to a member of our Communities<br />

Team who will assist.<br />

Tuesday<br />

Exploring Wellbeing<br />

SCQF Level 4<br />

24 <strong>August</strong> – 14 Dec <strong>2021</strong><br />

9.30am – 12 noon<br />

Method of delivery: Online<br />

Learners will develop an<br />

understanding of personal wellbeing<br />

as a holistic concept. This course will<br />

cover some ideas to stay mentally<br />

well and develop your ability to cope<br />

with the up and downs of life.<br />

Blended <strong>Learning</strong>:<br />

this course will be delivered in the classroom<br />

and online<br />

Online:<br />

the full course will be delivered online.<br />

Classroom/workshop/garden space:<br />

course will be delivered in classroom, college<br />

campus workshop or garden space (mainly<br />

practical subjects)<br />

Horticulture – Plant Propagation<br />

SCQF Level 4<br />

24 <strong>August</strong> – 14 Dec <strong>2021</strong><br />

1pm – 3.30pm<br />

Method of delivery: Classroom/Garden areas<br />

This course will introduce learners to methods commonly used to propagate plants.<br />

Learners will develop knowledge of the advantages and limitations of a range of<br />

propagation methods, along with the most appropriate propagation method to use<br />

for a selected plant to produce a crop of plants. This course is aimed at learners<br />

with little or no experience and will be a new group or learners.

Working in Early Education and Childcare<br />

SCQF Level 4<br />

25 <strong>August</strong> – 15th December <strong>2021</strong><br />

9.30am – 12 noon<br />

Method of delivery: Online<br />

Learner will develop a basic understanding<br />

of different types of provision in the Early<br />

<strong>Learning</strong> and Childcare sector, and how the<br />

sector supports children and families. They<br />

will also be exploring the skills and qualities<br />

required to work with children aged 0–12<br />

years.<br />

Criminology: Crime Scenes<br />

SCQF Level 5<br />

25 <strong>August</strong> – 15 December <strong>2021</strong><br />

1.00pm – 3.30pm<br />

Method of delivery: Online<br />

Learners will be introduced to physical and psychological<br />

evidence at a crime scene and develop an understanding<br />

of the different types of evidence and the importance of<br />

preserving it.<br />

Practical Abilities<br />

through Sewing<br />

26 <strong>August</strong> – 16 December <strong>2021</strong><br />

This course will assist<br />

learners to improve their<br />

self-reliance and confidence<br />

by developing their practical<br />

abilities through sewing,<br />

while participating in one or<br />

more projects,<br />

Mindfulness<br />

26 <strong>August</strong> – 7 October <strong>2021</strong><br />

21 October – 9 December <strong>2021</strong><br />

Delivery: Blended <strong>Learning</strong><br />

This course is an introduction to<br />

nutrition, wellbeing and mindfulness,<br />

incorporating how to deal with the<br />

stress of everyday life with the help<br />

of nutritional advice and meditation.<br />

Friday<br />

Brickwork, Concrete &<br />

Paving Skills<br />

SCQF Level 4 & College Certificate<br />

27 <strong>August</strong> – 17 Dec <strong>2021</strong><br />

9.30am – 12 noon<br />

Classroom/workshop<br />

(Paisley Campus)<br />

Learners will measure and set out<br />

simple brickwork and carry out basic<br />

concreting and paving work. By the<br />

end of the course learner will be<br />

able to build a short length of half<br />

brick wall and have the knowledge<br />

to carry out basic concreting and<br />

paving.<br />

Health & Wellbeing<br />

SCQF Level 4<br />

27 <strong>August</strong> – 17 December <strong>2021</strong><br />

Delivery: Blended <strong>Learning</strong><br />

Learners will be introduced to the<br />

factors which cause mental health<br />

and wellbeing issues and will explore<br />

the effect of technology and social<br />

media and the influence this can<br />

have on our mental health and<br />

wellbeing.<br />

Identify a range of mental health<br />

issues and behavior’s and discuss<br />

how it is portrayed in the world<br />

today. Learners will also be<br />

expanding their knowledge on the<br />

role of the brain in relation to mental<br />
