Inverclyde Community Outreach Programmes
West College Scotland CLD Adult Learning Provision
Our community classes are suitable for all ages over 16 years and
designed to meet the needs of local residents within Inverclyde.
Classes are informal, delivered within easy going environments based within community-based venues or on
Campus with friendly tutors who will take you through your study, with support where required.

Childcare
Come along and explore the world of Childcare from 0 to 12
years of age!
You will gain knowledge and skills in a relaxed environment
whilst learning about the importance of child development,
play, wellbeing and supporting children’s behaviour.

A Life in Social Science
This bitesize course looks at many different topics such as
Psychology, Sociology, History, Politics and Criminology. If
you’re interested in the social sciences – then this course is for
you!

Sign Language - Beginners and SQA
Sign language is a way of communicating using hand gestures
and movements, body language and facial expressions, instead
of spoken words. This course is ideal for beginners who would
like to learn the basics of the most studied language in the
world!

Creative Writing
Express your inner thoughts, imagination and invention with
either fiction story writing or poetry. Learn how to be creative
with words and put pen to paper or on a word document.

Horticulture
In this course you’ll learn about gardening. You’ll learn how
to plant out and tend to your plants, about soil and the
environment and how to look after your tools and equipment
properly.

Woodland Maintenance
This course is designed to introduce you to the skills required
to maintain woodlands. The need to care for your woodland
areas is important and this course will look at tree planting,
after care and woodland design. It’ll also cover managing
woods for wildlife and recreation.

Media Podcasting
Come along and learn how to podcast
using specialised software and
equipment available to you on campus
- it’s fun and fascinating!

Soft Landscaping
Learn and develop your skills in soft landscaping. By the end of
this course, you’ll be able to create your perfect garden – you’ll
know what to plant, what soil to use and many useful tips.

Cooking & Craft Baking

Come and learn how prepare, cook, garnish and serve the
perfect meal or produce and a range of bakery products
from bread to pastry
– you will be invited
to pop in for a chat
with the tutor
before class starts
to look at options.
Computing & IT
Location: West College Scotland, Finnart Street Campus
Day: Tuesday
Time: 9.30am-12 noon
Using specialised software for computing you’ll get to use
programmes like Microsoft Wordm,
Excel and PowerPoint. You’ll also
learn about Cyber Security and
much more.
We can tailor your delivery to
what will suit the group, so

Stress Management

We will take you through a varied journey in understanding
how stress affects each and every one of us, causes
and how to manage this and how mindfulness can
help in our day-to-day life.
