West College Scotland CLD Adult Learning Provision<br />

Our community classes are suitable for all ages over 16 years and<br />

designed to meet the needs of local residents within <strong>Inverclyde</strong>.<br />

Classes are informal, delivered within easy going environments based within community-based venues or on<br />

Campus with friendly tutors who will take you through your study, with support where required.<br />

Come along and explore the world of Childcare from 0 to 12<br />

years of age!<br />

You will gain knowledge and skills in a relaxed environment<br />

whilst learning about the importance of child development,<br />

play, wellbeing and supporting children’s behaviour.<br />

A Life in Social Science<br />

This bitesize course looks at many different topics such as<br />

Psychology, Sociology, History, Politics and Criminology. If<br />

you’re interested in the social sciences – then this course is for<br />

you!<br />

Sign Language - Beginners and SQA<br />

Sign language is a way of communicating using hand gestures<br />

and movements, body language and facial expressions, instead<br />

of spoken words. This course is ideal for beginners who would<br />

like to learn the basics of the most studied language in the<br />

world!<br />

Creative Writing<br />

Express your inner thoughts, imagination and invention with<br />

either fiction story writing or poetry. Learn how to be creative<br />

with words and put pen to paper or on a word document.<br />

Horticulture<br />

In this course you’ll learn about gardening. You’ll learn how<br />

to plant out and tend to your plants, about soil and the<br />

environment and how to look after your tools and equipment<br />

properly.<br />

Woodland Maintenance<br />

This course is designed to introduce you to the skills required<br />

to maintain woodlands. The need to care for your woodland<br />

areas is important and this course will look at tree planting,<br />

after care and woodland design. It’ll also cover managing<br />

woods for wildlife and recreation.<br />

Media Podcasting<br />

Come along and learn how to podcast<br />

using specialised software and<br />

equipment available to you on campus<br />

Soft Landscaping<br />

Learn and develop your skills in soft landscaping. By the end of<br />

this course, you’ll be able to create your perfect garden – you’ll<br />

know what to plant, what soil to use and many useful tips.<br />

Cooking & Craft Baking<br />

perfect meal or produce and a range of bakery products<br />

from bread to pastry<br />

Computing & IT<br />

Using specialised software for computing you’ll get to use<br />

programmes like Microsoft Wordm,<br />

Excel and PowerPoint. You’ll also<br />

learn about Cyber Security and<br />

much more.<br />

Stress Management<br />

Time: 10.00-12.30pm<br />

We will take you through a varied journey in understanding<br />

how stress affects each and every one of us, causes<br />

and how to manage this and how mindfulness can<br />

help in our day-to-day life.
