AIRPORT INFRASTRUCTURE DOHA A view along just part of the lounge gives an idea of its scale. (Qatar Airways) Chefs and waitresses provide excellent service in the mezzanine level restaurant which offers an impressive range of dishes from around the world. Plenty of seating options are available to travellers. There are small ‘garden’ areas at each end of a raised seating area. (Qatar Airways) bites are available; these change according to the time of day. Passengers can relax in partitioned areas furnished with stylish Italian design leather sofas and armchairs. Executive seating is on offer throughout the lounge and each unit comes with a private flight information display, a reading light and power/data outlets. On the other side of the pool there is a ‘gardened’ section – a long and slightly elevated feature with plants at both ends and organised into small partitioned relaxation areas. At the far end of this is the vast all-day food area, fully staffed by waiters and serviced by chefs preparing fresh à-la carte items, club sandwiches and a wide range of hot and cold dishes. For even more exotic food options, flavours from around the world are represented on the mezzanine level where guests can choose between a continental or oriental brasserie, a global deli or a patisserie, while a signature bar serves some of the world’s finest drinks including Krug champagne. Careful attention to detail is evident everywhere – even down to the scrambled eggs on offer in the buffet area where they are beautifully presented in individual terrines A dedicated business centre, complete with a conference suite, personal internet workstations, printers and scanners, along with private quiet rooms, peaceful family spaces, games rooms (offering PlayStation pods and an F1 driving simulator), several prayer rooms, restrooms, a smoking area, a nursery and shower rooms fitted with luxury amenities and fine linens complete the lounge offerings. Guests who wish to stay connected and continue working can cocoon themselves in one of the private workstations equipped with personal display screens and complimentary Wi-Fi. The Al Mourjan Business Lounge is open to Qatar Airways and oneworld First and Business Class passengers. Next up is the Al Safwa First Class Lounge, which is due to open in the coming months as part of the airport’s phased development. It promises to deliver a luxurious and classy experience through the attentive care and 5-star hospitality provided by its highly trained staff, making any transit at the new Hamad International Airport a pure pleasure. www.airportsworld.com 35
