2015 HONOREE
When I was younger I was never into arts and crafts or recess, I enjoyed reading
books that let my imagination wander. I began my strong study habits early and
pushed myself to get high grades. This drive has continued with throughout high
school. This desire is not only to get high grades, but, to expand my intelligence and
develop my skills. As the years have gone by I see myself furthering my education
and obtaining a degree in marketing. By continuing my education, I can accomplish
my goals and make my dreams a reality. I heard about the Trey Whitfield Foundation
from my mother and did some further research. I then realized how much of an
impact this foundation has made on the community. The foundation has a firm
belief in education, friendship and dedication - three key qualities that can are all
needed to be successful. Education will always be an important key in my life and
by furthering my knowledge, there is no telling where it can take me.
Age: 18
School: University of New Haven, Connecticut
Accomplishments: At Huntington High School: Recipient, Math Pride Award;
Recipient, Social Studies Award for Excellence; Police Explorers Member,
I am active in my community and I work hard in the classroom each and every day.
My academic dedication lead me to the honor roll and numerous pride awards - these
awards are given to a select few students at our school who demonstrate leadership
and strong work ethic. At my church, I was involved in starting our youth group
to get the youth off the streets on Friday nights and divert their attention to more
positive life aspects. I’m also involved with my cousin’s basketball team, where
the goal is to help kids who are not as fortunate, play on a structured team to teach
them life lessons. I also care deeply about Huntington and actively participate in
“Night Out Against Crime” where we raise awareness about issues that plague our
small town.
