DTC70
The Direct-to-College Plan (DTC70) is a first-of-its-kind endeavor
involving ACC, the University of Texas at Austin, and several Central Texas
businesses, chambers of commerce, and school districts. The group is
working to draw 70 percent of area seniors to college directly after they
graduate. ACC and its DTC partners have collaborated on processes for
sharing college readiness data. The college has also provided support for
“summer melt” interventions and “FAFSA Saturday” financial aid events.
College Prep
In accordance with Texas law, ACC partners with regional school districts
to provide college preparatory courses for high school seniors who
do not meet state college readiness standards. In 2015 ACC partnered
with seven school districts; 10 school districts participated in 2016. The
University of Texas at Austin Charles A. Dana Center is partnering with
ACC and the school districts to provide math curriculum for the program.
To provide a clear college pathway
for high school students, ACC offers
multiple dual credit opportunities.
Career Academies
ACC also partners with area school districts to offer Career Academies,
dual credit programs offering the opportunity to earn certificates in highdemand
occupations. In fall 2015 the college launched an Information
Technology Academy providing instruction in computer user support,
networking, and web development. A Health Science Academy offers
phlebotomy, pharmacy technician, and emergency medical technician
certificates and a foundational health science course. ACC also partnered
to open the Manor ISD Career Certification Center, where students
enrolled in courses for nurse aide, medical assisting, electrical preapprenticeship,
PC technician, mechatronics, and heating, air conditioning
and refrigeration technology. ACC launched a Construction Trades
Academy in 2016 and plans to launch an Educator Academy in 2017.
Career Academy students complete
courses to earn entry-level certification
for immediate employment after high
school graduation. The courses count
toward an ACC associate degree.
