loan program, emergency assistance, and community referrals. The Support<br />
Center collaborates with the Austin Community Action Network and Austin<br />
Opportunity Youth Consortium on programs benefiting low-income and<br />
underserved students. Support Center staff also assist former foster care<br />
students. The Support Center served more than 600 students in 2015–16.<br />
Student Life<br />
The Student Life Office, ACC’s “classroom without walls,” provides cocurricular<br />
programming, student organization development, success<br />
coaching, and overall student support. Many Student Life activities are<br />
planned, prepared, and executed by students, which promotes engagement<br />
and builds leadership skills. Student Life oversees 41 student organizations<br />
including intramural sports. Student Life also provides first-year-experience<br />
programming in support of the college’s student success initiatives.<br />
ACC is offering summer 2017 study abroad<br />
programs in Costa Rica, France, India,<br />
Italy, Spain, and the United Kingdom.<br />
ACC Student Life has produced more<br />
than 280 events based on student input.<br />

Service Learning<br />
Service Learning provides valuable experiential learning opportunities and helps<br />
students connect with community organizations in their field of study. ACC has<br />
expanded service learning opportunities and curriculum support for faculty.<br />
Instructors representing almost 30 courses in 16 disciplines have incorporated<br />
service learning into their curriculum. Service learning activities are listed<br />
on co-curricular transcripts so students can demonstrate their community<br />
involvement and service to future employers or education institutions.<br />
International Programs<br />
ACC encourages students to be part of the global community. The college’s<br />
International Programs Office develops and manages study abroad programs,<br />
promotes collaborations with institutions outside the United States, serves<br />
as a resource for globalizing curriculum, and recruits international students<br />
to ACC. The office also has collaborated with the college’s Faculty Center<br />
for Learning and Teaching and the University of Texas at Austin Hemispheres<br />
Program to form a faculty learning community focused on globalizing<br />
education. Through events such as a global issues speakers series, the office<br />
helps build awareness of international issues and critical current topics.
