EVENTS
POW WOW
The steady beat of the drum, their songs carried on by the wind,
the sound of the jingles and feet gently touching the ground
as they dance. These are the sounds of the Indigenous People
coming together to host and celebrate Red Lake’s Annual
Community Pow Wow. Every year offers a different experience.
The event is started off with a sacred blessing of the grounds
and then the event ends with a large feast. Throughout the day
you can enjoy the taste of fresh baked and fried bannock, as
well as Indian Taco’s, bannock burgers and dogs. Every year
is different in the amount of drums that joins in, but what
doesn’t change is the amazing traditional music and dances
that drummers and dancers share with you. Listen and watch
the festivities, or even join in on one of the ceremonial dances.
Everyone is welcomed and encouraged to take part. This is a
cultural learning experience you will remember for a lifetime.
