From the Chairman
Welcome back to the Hadley Stadium and a happy new year to all our Players,
volunteers, sponsors, parents and supporters from me, the Chairman of West
Bromwich United Football Club.
As we go into 2017, I would like to take the opportunity to look back on a
vintage year for West Bromwich United in 2016. 2016 will be remembered as
the year where we went from 8 to 15 teams, including our 1st team playing in
the Midlands Regional League and our Ladies Team too. I will also remember
2016 as the year that we won FA Charter Standard Development Club Of the
year from the Football Association. This is an achievement that fills me with
immense pride.
But that’s enough looking back; my focus is now on the remainder of this
season and looking forward towards season 2017/2018. I have exciting plans
to share with you all about the continued growth plan for the club which will
include a fundamental change to how we not only coach our youth players,
but how we can create a clear path line from Under 7s up to Open age football
for all our youth players within the club.
We are a club that never stands still and always looks to drive our
performance and reputation for our players and volunteers. I hope to reveal
all by the end of February 2017, when I have briefed the management team!
In the meantime, thanks for all your continued support, from players, parents,
sponsors and staff. I know that together we can make 2017 even better than
2016, as we continue to build a legacy, the legacy that is West Bromwich
United!

The Gaffer says...
Good afternoon all and welcome back to Hadley Stadium for the first game of 2017.
I hope you have all had a wonderful Christmas/New Year and like me you are looking forward
to spending your Saturday’s with WBU watching the world’s best sport (Non-league
football). The support from volunteers and fans at WBU is second to none and i would like
to take this opportunity to thank them for their hard work during the season so far, not to
mention Andy Parkes our director of football and our first team coaches Paul Thomas
(Bald T) and Andy Thomas (Hairy T) who have been relentlessly slogging it out on the
training ground with the lads making sure our football is on point. Each and every person,
whether you’re a volunteer, coach or just come and support the club on match days plays
a vital role in ensuring we move forward on a daily basis so again THANK YOU.
Before the break we travelled to our close neighbours Tipton Youth where 3 points were
needed. Credit where credit is due Tipton pushed us hard for the first 10/15 minutes
working well to close us down and nicking the ball, but once we found our stride and
matched their work rate we started to have more success During the game. We had some
good possession and used are width well, Roberto and George showing glimpses of magic
and Scott Broadway having an outstanding game leading from the front allowed us to
dominate for a period of time in the 2 nd Half, a well-deserved win for the lads!. Good and
bad Days are part and parcel of football just like any team but one thing I am proud to say
is our football philosophy has not changed, we pride ourselves on being a “footballing
side” and no matter what happens this will always be the case at WBU.
Players gave it their all throughout the first half of the season, being a new club we knew
it was going to be difficult but hard work pays diligence as we currently sit joint top of the
table with an unbeaten record of 11. Once again the work ethic is paramount here if the
club is going to be successful, the players are prepared to give you their blood, sweat and
tears and with a couple of new signings over the Christmas break we have only made our
squad stronger, something that is needed for today’s game versus a tough Allscott side.
Allscott are a new team in the league this season and much like ourselves they hit the
ground running soon finding themselves bouncing around the top 3 spaces. Established
for a while now, they have a good following and (from what I have read) a good youth
development system with youth team players looking to break into the first team, a club
doing all the right things.
Two title contending teams will clash today in what I’m sure will be a great spectacle of
football for all, I would like to wish Allscott all the best in today’s fixture but for now let’s
get these 3 points!

As we grow as a club, we are continually expanding our social media
and digital profiles. We currently have a vacancy for a match day
photographer. The candidate would need to be available on all
match days to snap the key points in the game. These would be
showcased both on the official website and our match day

Club History
The first Season for us together, as Part of Greets Green FC, Kelly Hollowood was appointed
as under 8's Manager. We had 7 players registered with us for season
2009/2010
The following season we decided to split from Greets Green FC, to become our own
Club, West Bromwich United. It was a friendly split, and greets green helped sponsor
our new club for this season to get us up and running.
We were not always going to be called West Brom UTD. We thought about calling
ourselves, West Brom All-stars, Great Bridge Harriers, and West Bromwich Harriers.
But in the end we went with the name we still have to this day, West Bromwich
United!
The founders of West Bromwich United Football Club are:

Kelly Hollowood – Treasurer
Kelly Heeley – Welfare officer
What started out as a hobby, had suddenly turned into a 5 year plan as we started
growing rapidly!
So 6 years down the line where are we now……
We have a main committee and a subcommittee that often meet to discuss the
future of the club, 15 teams in total ranging from mini kickers all the way up to
open age ladies and a Men’s 1 st Team at semiprofessional level. 30 volunteers, secretaries,
team coaches and managers… All our Youth Managers are FA Level: 1 and
youth Mod: 1 trained
We also have 4 Level: 2 Coaches, a UEFA B coach, a goal keeper coach, 3 Youth Mod 2
coaches and a Youth mod 3 coach that are currently working within the club.

United in Action
A battling performance 2nd half earned West Bromwich United a deserved 4-1 victory over a very
strong Tipton Youth to see us go second at the Christmas break!
It was Tipton who started the stronger, attacking from the off winning the ball early doors and
earning a Throw just on the edge of the box, which in turn caused a goalmouth scramble and
within 30 seconds they found themselves 1-0 up.
Tipton pushed and looked like they wanted it more, more desire and all round quicker to the
punch
The WBU defence held up well for the next 10 minutes though after a struggled start and we
found our way into the game, passing the ball and finding space to run into. Some good
possession play helped us widen the pitch and stretch Tipton at times causing problems
through George Tennant and Roberto Cumbreno linking well with Daryl Westwood in the 10
role.
West Bromwich’s patience was rewarded half way through the first half when we found an
equaliser. Scott Broadway on the ball again smashing it home 1-1
It should’ve been 2-1 when Daryl Westwood found Scott Broadway 12 yards out, but hitting a
snapshot, he fired over to leave only a single goal for each at the break.
Early in the second half it was 2-1 when a period of intense WBU pressure saw George
Tennant drive in a low, hard cross which was turned into the net by Scott Broadway netting his
4th goal in 2 games.
Midway through the second WBU scored a third, a headed clearance for Tipton landed at George
Tennant's feet bursting through a challenge to fire home across the Tipton keeper to make it 3-1.
This saw a period of Tipton pressure but the WBU Centre backs Liam Cox and Lewis Wemm held
firm winning every header, tackle and playing out from the back with confidence, allowing Sam
Causton and Ryan Kingdon space to get up the field.
WBU continued to play when new lad Darren Lewis played an inch perfect pass to Scott Broadway
who was looking for his hat trick, pulls the trigger but this was blocked by the Tipton defender.
Another attack from WBU this time converted. Scott Broadway with some brilliant individual skill
slipping past three Tipton players and slotting the ball across the box for an easy finish from Ryan
Pallett.
Tipton 1 - 4 West Bromwich United.
A scrappy start but a good battled finish from the lads today, we don't stop leading up to Christmas
with only 1 weeks break then back on it as a very important league game Vs Allscott is just
around the corner.
