StoryWalkTM & Interpretive Trail - Year-round
The StoryWalkTM program combines the benefits of physical activity,
time outdoors in nature, literacy and family time by taking children’s
books and posting them, in pieces, along a recreational path or
hiking trail. Discover this fall’s feature: “Forest Bright Forest Night”
by Jennifer Ward and Illustrated by Jamichael Henterly. Then be sure
to check back for a new winter feature. To find the beginning, start
at the base parking area and then follow the pages along the Turtle
Loop and the self-guided interpretive trail to the summit.
Volunteer Coaching – We need your help!
Please don’t hesitate to volunteer to coach! You don’t have to be in the
coaches’ hall of fame to help coach any of our leagues. In every situation,
the parks and recreation department provides leadership on the field or on
the court, with a program director who runs the league and refs the games.
Your job, in most situations, is to make sure every child has equal playing
time and to insure that the kids are having fun…so please think about it. Our
programs are only as good as the volunteers who help us. Thank you!
Soccer
L’il Tikes, Mites and Bantam
Indoor Gym Soccer
Lil Tikes Ages 3 & 4, Mites Ages 5 & 6,
Bantams Ages 7 & 8
This spring we’re taking it to the
gym! Join us for indoor gym soccer at
York Middle School. Our “goal” (pun
intended) will be on FUN! We’ll be
focusing on the skills of confidence,
dexterity, coordination, endurance,
positioning and rules. This program is
designed for children ages 3 - 8 and will be offered on Saturdays,
beginning March 14th.
COACHES can pick up the team uniform and rosters at the Parks
and Recreation Office at Grant House, on Tuesday, March 3rd,
between 8:30am and 4:30pm. We will be available to answer any
questions that you may have at that time. If you are unable to
make it during our office hours, please let us know and we can
make other arrangements for pick up.

Preschool Sports with Gymheroes
We are pleased to introduce and welcome gymheroes to our lineup
of activities for the youngest of our community members. These
classes are designed for preschoolers, ages 3-5, to get their bodies
moving and flexible all while having fun! Children develop basic
skills used in sports such as soccer, t-ball, hockey, golf and more
during weekly classes. Teamwork and friendship are a focus as we
take turns and cheer on our classmates. Children are developing
healthy habits through fun and sports play helping to build
confidence and emotional well-being. Each sport-specific class will
be offered in a 4 week session, once per week on Wednesdays, at
the Activity Room at Our School Nursery School at Landmark Hill.
This program has strict minimum and maximum enrollment limit,
early registration is recommended.
REGISTRATION: Ongoing until one week prior to the start of
each new session or until class is full
