Gentle Hatha Yoga
The class gently helps you build strength, increase flexibility,
improve mental clarity, and energize the body. Flexibility is an
outcome of yoga, not a prerequisite.
Based on Peggy Cappy’s wonderful book and videos, Gentle
HathaYoga is a modified series of traditional poses, which can
be done by almost anyone—of any age or ability. We’ll place
special emphasis on “bone-safe” (for those with osteoporosis or
osteopenia), balance, and fall prevention. Props, chairs, or walls
can be used to make poses accessible and to provide support and
safety in balance poses.
Please bring a yoga mat (if you have one) and your favorite props
and wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely.
Out N’ About Breakfast Club
Who doesn’t love a good breakfast among friends? Once a month
the York Senior Center frequents a local breakfast establishment for
great food and good fun. These outings are very casual; we invite
you to order off of the regular menu so if it’s a full egg and pancakes
breakfast for you, that’s great or maybe just a muffin and fruit, you
choose. Space is limited for our breakfasts so registration is a must.
We hope you’ll give us a call and plan to join us. Check the monthly
Scoop or our website to see where we are headed next.
on Tuesday afternoons for a gathering of similar-minded, craft
loving folk. What a productive way to socialize and share ideas.
Senior Swim
We are very grateful for the generosity of the Anchorage Inn on
Long Sands Beach who kindly make their pool available for use by
Senior Center Members throughout the winter months. Our Senior
Swim is an a-la-carte program where you can choose your own
days and time. Do you want to swim one day, two days, or maybe
three? It’s up to you and you can register for as much or as little
