cut that properly frames my face, a style<br />

with the staff delivering a terrific<br />
hair wash, head massage and scalp<br />

always necessary to buy new threads<br />
for a new look. You can just reinvent<br />
clothes you have worn before. From<br />
simple alteration for hemlines to more<br />
complex reconstruction of the entire<br />
garment, under the seamstress’s skilled<br />
hands, they are all given a new life.<br />
The alteration outfit is part of Reward<br />
Laundry (the shop’s signboard bears<br />
this name), which provides laundry<br />
services. The seamstress was quick to<br />
assess what needed to be done with<br />
a seasoned eye. When she sensed my<br />
doubtfulness with how a skirt looked on<br />
me after a first round of alteration, she<br />
set off on another round of alteration,<br />
after which the skirt fitted much better. A<br />
hallmark of a good seamstress.<br />

The bakeshop’s mini cupcakes (threecm<br />
diameter) come in over 15 flavours<br />
topped with assorted colourful icing<br />
and sweets, all baked fresh daily. The<br />
bakeshop also sells bigger versions of<br />
the cupcakes, cakes, cookies and cheese<br />

As far as buffets go, they are noisy, far from romantic and the food is usually a<br />
letdown. 10 at Claymore is nothing like that. Situated in a placid part of Orchard<br />
road, soft lighting and tables spaced adequately apart makes the small restaurant<br />
comfortably intimate. A great setting for small gatherings of friends and family or<br />
a romantic dinner. Fresh seafood on ice and sashimi are on offer. Asian and local<br />
offerings that do well include the rich and flavourful bak kut teh, deliciously creamy<br />
braised chicken with taro and preserved sausages, savoury assam prawns and<br />
char kway teow. They also have other international cuisine such as Scandinavian<br />
mushroom casserole, clams in white wine sauce, black pepper lamb rack and<br />
barbecue pork ribs. Still, you’ll want to save room for dessert, especially the caramel<br />
sea salt tiramisu and the range of pretty cakes.<br />
