Electronic Stunning: animal welfare
appropriate, quality preserving and

wide range for electronic stunning of
pigs & sheep. Qualified stunning plays
an important role in the slaughtering
process where ethic demands of
animal welfare and efficient economic
policy shall be united for good meat
quality results. The process shall be
constantly controlled and reasonably
documented for each carcass quantity.

stunner program with electronic
high-frequency constant amperage.
By fulfilling the strict EU-slaughtering
act higher yields are obtained due to
less blood spots and bone fractures
as well as consistently good meat
quality. The FREUND electronic
stunners thus ensure high productionand
investment security. Already the
favourable STUN-E512 is freely
adaptable to small and mediumsized
business needs as the stunning
programs are adjustable to different
animal species, sizes and operating
modes. All stun parameters, e.g.
minimum stun time, are adjustable
but also selection between head
and heart stunning. The stunning
parameters are pre-programmed
in different programs regarding the
amperage and the current frequency
and can be adapted according to
the application.
The STUN-E514 is the electronic
stunner for continuous operation
with trap or restrainers for far more
convenient handling. Increased hourly
capacity is due to a more powerful
transformer and additional output
sockets for separate heart electrode
and pneumatic tong. If the relevant
parameters (minimum amperage,
hold time, rise time) are exceeded
or undercut, the related errors are
marked for the relevant data records.
These errors are also displayed visually
and acoustically on the device. The
external memory stick STUN-EMEM01
records key parameters of electronic
stuns as required by the EU animal
slaughtering act. The included STUN-
DATA software read out the data.
All E-Stunners sold in the EU have
to have a record function from Jan.
2013. FREUND Maschinenfabrik
also provides a data cable, which
serves as a direct connection from
the stunner device to the computer
in order to evaluate the data “just in
time”. FREUND recommends different
tongs for the respective applications.
E.g. The STUN-TONG-EP-STEEL,
and the STUN-TONG-EA-STEEL for
the stunning of pigs and sheep. The
fast electrode change saves time, the
reinforced joint offers more stability
and the handgrips are equipped with
a cable protection, which minimizes
cable breaks. The STUN-TONG-
EP Titan designed from lightweight
titanium for improved ergonomic
application is used for pigs, sows
and boars. Inspection of electronic
stunners from any manufacturers.
As a special service FREUND offers
annually required inspection of
existing electronic stunners with
respect to relevant regulations of
animal slaughtering, plant security
and accident prevention laws. When
conforming to all regulations, an
inspection sticker will be affixed and
a certificate issued.
