INNISMARA<br />
In October 2014 the classic yachting fleet saw the<br />
return of the magnificent Bernie Schmidt built, 67ft<br />
racer Innismara, aka ‘war canoe’. Also known as ‘the<br />
pencil’ she has been restored by Blanche & Ian Cook<br />
along with the team at Yachting Developments.<br />
Prior to coming into the hands of the Cooks,<br />
Innismara was in very poor shape, suffering from<br />
long term shed storage and fire damage to her<br />
forward sections. Her keel was also missing, but<br />
her history was still there and she was destined to<br />
return as a race winner on the Waitemata.<br />
Once again the Cooks have returned one of our<br />
classic fleet to better than new condition. Blanche<br />
and Ian also own the 1938 yacht Ranger, a fine<br />
stablemate for Innismara and Erewhon: the next in<br />
line for restoration.<br />
