DINNER FLOOD & COAST DINNER The Flood & Coast 2017 Dinner will be held on Wednesday 29 March at Telford International Centre. The evening will feature the Environment Agency Project Excellence Awards. Entertainment for the evening will be provided by stand up comedian and comedy writer Dominic Holland, a wellestablished comic artist with experience as an after dinner speaker, actor and comedian. Launching his career with a Perrier Best Newcomer Award in 1993 Holland is one of the most popular event comedians in the UK. Dominic has contributed to the work of both Bob Monkhouse and Clive Anderson, he has appeared as a panellist on Have I Got News For You and Never Mind the Buzzcocks. A strong comedian in his own right Dominic has presented three full length stand-up shows, appeared at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and hosts his own comedy show for BBC Radio 4. He is a regular at both the Comedy Store and Jongleurs; his material is creative and brilliant and never stoops to the lows of offensive or vulgar jokes and is a joy to watch. Tickets for the dinner are £75 plus VAT per person to include pre-dinner drink, 3 course dinner and coffee and wine and after dinner entertainment. PROJECT EXCELLENCE AWARDS 2017 The Project Excellence Awards recognise projects that have shown a contribution to managing flood and coastal risk and building local resilience to flooding. This includes projects developed or supported by local authorities, internal drainage boards and the Environment Agency, as well as community level initiatives. 2017 Award Categories » Programme and project delivery – demonstrating the application of programme and project management best practice to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of outcomes. » Working in partnership – to recognise excellent partnership action on local flood and coastal risk management and preparedness. » Asset management – identifying and implementing new ways of meeting challenges to deliver projects better, quicker, more safely or more efficiently. » Innovation – identifying and implementing new ways of meeting challenges to deliver projects better, quicker, more safely or more efficiently. » Managing health, safety and environmental risk – recognising those projects that have demonstrated the highest standards in managing H&S and Environmental risk during scheme development and construction phases. » Efficiency – recognising those projects that have made a major contribution to delivering more outcomes for less money. » Sustainable resource management – demonstrating how they have managed resources sustainably including measures for carbon reduction and effective management of waste and the highest levels of resource efficiency. » Building resilience – a new category to recognise community level action to improve local resilience, including planning for flooding and generating new and innovative sources of funding.
