Playgroup &
Toddlers
Playgroup continues to be as busy
as ever, with the children making
new friends with all our new starts
this term. We have explored the
story of ‘The Tiger Who Came to
Tea’ and ‘Valentine’s Day’, as well
as beginning to learn the days of
the week, seasons, weather and
months through our registration time
at the beginning of each session.
The children are also involved in
following a simple recipe to make
our play dough while at playgroup and love getting messy helping to add the ingredients and mix it all together. We
are also looking forward to booking some sessions of gymnastics or football with Morton to help keep us healthy
and active!
Playgroup runs on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday mornings. For more information contact Playgroup Secretary
Claire at kilmacolmplaygroupandtoddlers@gmail.com. Our Toddlers group is on Wednesday mornings from 10am
- 11.30am and gives 0-3 year olds a chance to play with lots of different toys, make friends, and share a snack,
while the grown-ups catch up over a cup of tea. Drop in to find out more, or contact Frances at kilmacolmtoddlers@
outlook.com. Our website is http://kilmacolmplaygroupandtoddlers@jimdo.com.
Houston Baby & Toddlers
St Fillan’s Primary School
At the beginning of January the Primary 4 and Primary 5 children
took part in a Digital Scotland mobile showcase event. They
learned about broadband and its importance in our lives and
discussed possible digital plans for the future.
Our Primary 6 pupils are looking forward to taking part in a STEM
(Science Technology Engineering and Maths) workshop at Paisley
University at the end of January. This will allow them to take
forward the STEM skills they have been developing in school.
This term Primary 3 are going to be learning about life during the
reign of Queen Victoria while our Primary 7 are studying what it
means to be a refugee.
In Primary 1 and Primary 2 our pupils are learning about Scotland.
In the picture you can see Primary 1 enjoying some fresh air and
exercise whilst taking part in their ‘Daily Mile’.
We are all looking forward to a visit from Zoolab later in January.
We’ve had a lovely start to our new term at Baby
& Toddlers with pupils from Houston Primary
leading us in song. A number of us have
attended a British Red Cross First Aid Course
for Baby and Child - hugely relevant and very
engaging, and hoping to organise another one
soon. We have Spring crafts and a grown-ups
night out planned.
Why not come along and join us at Houston
Baby & Toddler group? Children from 0-4 years
old, together with their parents/grandparent/
carer, will receive a warm welcome. The
children can have fun playing with our many
toys while the adults chat over a cuppa! We
meet every Thursday 9.30am - 11.30am (term
time only) in the West Hall, Main Street, Houston, PA6 7EL (next door to the Carrick Centre) – welcome anytime.
We look forward to meeting you. Sharon, Lesley & Fiona. (lesleyannjackson@outlook.com)
