There’s more to Birds than just Feathers!
Here’s an idea for an amazing day out during the summer holidays - something very unusual
and certainly not off the shelf…. although perhaps off the perch!
Loch Lomond Bird of Prey Centre is located within the boundaries of the first National Park in Scotland,
Loch Lomond & the Trossachs National Park, just 30 minute drive from Glasgow. If you are looking
for a Bird of Prey encounter, why not come along and spend a few hours in the company of these
remarkable creatures.
The Centre is located in the woodland on the left of the walkway leading to the Gateway Centre at Loch
Lomond Shores, when entering the Lomond Shores area, follow the signs for the red car park and you’ll
find the centre located on the left, adjacent to the cycle crossing.
There are over thirty birds of prey,
representing more than twenty species.
Birds of all sizes, the Little Owl, Kestrels,
Buzzards, Hawks, Falcons and Eagles,
including “Orla”, our Golden Eagle.
So why not come in and meet our
feathered companions. Visitors always
leave enlightened, having learned a great
deal more about birds of prey. Most are
surprised at the number of species there
are. All visitors comment on how close
they can get to the birds, and appreciate
their size and power. Above all, visitors
recognise the passion of those who care
for the birds.
Loch Lomond Bird of Prey Centre is open every day, except Christmas
Day & New Years Day. During the summer months, opening hours are
MONDAY TO SUNDAY : 9.30 - 18.00 (Last entry 17.30).
Entrance Fees:
• Under 3’s - Free ; Children - £4 Concessions - £6 ; Adults - £8
• Families - One child free entry within each fee paying child.
Please note, pre-booked groups will be provided with group discount. Please
contact us to discuss visits incorporating activities.
Meet the birds
Why not participate in one of our many Activities, giving you a unique
opportunity to get up-close with our birds. Please note, activities must be
booked in advance.
These range from a Hawk Walk (£35), when you will learn to fly one of our
Hawks for an hour, flying the bird through the trees and to the glove, to a
Centre Experience Day (£175) when you can become a keeper for the day
and participate in the daily routine of the centre. Help with the cleaning,
maintenance, learn basic handling skills and the Falconers’ knot. Take part
in training or flying some of the birds. A session will be set aside, either to
fly a bird, or hunting, depending on the season. Become part of the team,
learning about individual birds, species, habitat and conservation.
Loch Lomond Bird of Prey Centre also attends a few, selected, organised
events. Gala Days, Highland Games, Fund Raising Events, or just to
provide an educational experience for children during school holidays. At
those events, the objective is to provide education to the public. Answering
questions, giving information on species, advice on conservation, highlighting
examples of wildlife crime, and providing the public an opportunity to view
NATIONAL Birds of Prey at close range.
Activities can be tailored to suit individual needs. Gift Vouchers are available
for all these activities!
